Story

The Limestone City Animal Hospital is co-owned by Dr. Mark de Wolde and Dr. Jason Shepherd and serves the city of Kingston by providing services that include annual examinations/immunizations, spays/neuters, emergency and health concerns, digital radiography, ultrasonography, orthopaedics, laser surgery, allergy testing/desensitization, dietary consultations and behavioural advice.

For every patient we see, we create a customized healthcare plan that addresses their specific needs. We are committed to working with our clients to give their pets a long, healthy and happy life.At our hospital we care for your pets at every stage of their life. The minute they become a part of our family we design a preventative program to keep their health in good shape.Some of the treatments we provide include – but are not limited to – surgery, therapy or medication. In some instances we may refer your loyal companion to a veterinarian with specialized expertise to ensure they get the right treatm"

Easy to get a last minute appointment. Helpful receptionist. Waiting room not crowded and put into a room right away. Great care from vet and vet tech who cared about my cat, did a thorough exam, and provided me a clear explanation of what was happening. The vet took the time to answer all my questions and to discuss not only my urgent issue but also weight loss. She gave clear instructions what to look out for and when to follow-up and then reached out by email. I always feel safe and well-cared for here and recommend it to anyone I know who has pets. I also appreciate the PetDesk app and was able to use a discount code.
We have had nothing but positive experiences with the Limestone team. Even with remote support via phone in between appointments, they continually go above and beyond and have such a kind and gentle touch. I feel lucky that my kitty is on their client roster!
Staff is so kind and clearly cares a ton for the animals. Was super accommodating getting 4 sickly rescue kittens in for their first checkups last-minute and made the process super easy. Glad I found a forever-vet!
Paid over $4000 to fix my cat's ear and thousands more on my other cat they wrote the prescription wrong so it worsened the problem and when I told them this, they blew me off. I got the receipts and proof. Please stop with the "we always strive..." automatic responses, it's very patronizing. Your response to my claims were very cold and uncompassionate, as part of your registration to the Ontario College of Veterinarians, you are required to provide ethical care, and you did not, you are not accountable for your actions. Periodt. If anyone else has has or had an issue, you can go to the website and make a formal complaint.
They have been lovely with all of my animals that I take there including my vet shy GSD and they always take such good care of her and her big emotions.
My dogs are excited to go there. The vet stood outside in the cold at -12 for almost 15 minutes going over everything with me in great detail. My know my pets are well cared for at Limestone City Animal Hospital.
Time and time again we are shown compassion, professionalism, honesty and above all.....AMAZING, LOVING care for our fur babies. Amazing doctors and techs, that are always welcoming and supportive in good and bad times. They have gone above and beyond for all our babies, in life as well as at the end. We truly feel like a part of the family knowing we can trust our pets care, well being and overall life with this team. We will continue to take our pets to Dr. Shepherd and the staff at Limestone Animal Hospital and absolutely encourage others to do the same!!
They we extremely helpful on the phone and saw my little kitty quickly at no charge! He was fine and didn't need any procedures. I thought for sure they would charge something. They were just happy to check him out and give me Peace of mind.
The doctors and VTs at Limestone are knowledgeable and compassionate. They work with us to find affordable solutions to our cat's medical problems without compromising care. The vets give advice that takes into account clients' finances, and they've never made us feel like bad cat parents because we can't pay for expensive tests and treatments on our grad student budget. They do let us know that if the cheaper solutions don't work, we may have to pay for more expensive care, but so far, all their inexpensive suggestions have solved our cat's issues! Limestone staff always follow up with us after appointments to see how kitty is doing, and we can really tell that everybody in the clinic cares deeply about animals.
Limestone collaborated with my vet to provide me with medical food for my sick cat. I am very grateful. Compassion for strangers is rare and lovely.
