Laurier Bookstore

As a returning learner who has been in the workforce for 10+ years, Laurier Bookstore engages in unethical practices the like of which I haven’t seen at any other university. Each semester, they automatically process the purchase of digital textbooks for thousands of students without their consent. The charges can amount to over $200 per student per semester, and are automatically charged to student accounts without permission. The bookstore absolves itself of liability by sending emails that notify students of a two week period to manually opt out of the purchase, during the busiest time at the start of the school year. This is unethical and I feel morally obligated to call it out for what it is: a large-scale scam hiding behind institutional policy to increase revenue.

I am not happy with the new online pickup system. It takes way too long to process ordered Wednesday - still processing Friday, looking like I won’t get my books until next week and there is no option to purchase in store anymore, so you also must have a credit card to purchase your books.

laurier merch is pretty nice i got a hoodie and a 5 dollar t shirt they also sell stationary and socks btw ! also they gave me a bag for free <3

Overpriced and the buyback prices are horrific. I would rather let Cambridge Analytica buy and sell my data so I can Facebook exchange the occasional textbook than pay full price. I give two stars because the service is worth 5.

To all incoming first years; check the course syllabus, wait for your teacher to tell you if the text is need, then check Amazon for the deals, then buy it from here if prices do not differ. Also, look closely around campus for anyone selling their copy, as it will always be cheaper.

Avoid at all costs. They have a terrible process where they opt you in for textbooks and even if you opt out they might not process it properly and just bill your account without your consent.

More merchandise selections in store than online. Staffs are friendly and helpful.
