Hard to find for non-students, though I suppose they have no reason to be there. The prices are unreasonable. A better way to protect the brand would be to sell only to Laurier students, at production cost. It disgusts me that *profit* *is* *being* *extracted* from students.
The staff here was great. I went in to make an exchange, the gentleman helped me navigate the store to find the same item in another size, and offered input on an item I had to switch for a different kind. As a non current student, and not having navigated the campus halls in ages, it was a little difficult to find and I had to ask someone how to get there. Again I’m sure if I was on campus all day taking classes and whatnot it would’ve been an easier find, but they could improve signs on how to get there from the building entrance
In regards to the online textbook access.... they are out to rob students of their money. They automatically enroll you in digital textbook access and when the website fails to opt you out they refuse to refund you. Instead of having over $200 to spend on groceries, I now have digital textbooks which I have no use for. Mary Andrazada didn't even try to remediate the situation. Only stated what can't be done. The bookstore does not have any leniency for students, only policies that work against them.
As a returning learner who has been in the workforce for 10+ years, Laurier Bookstore engages in unethical practices the like of which I haven’t seen at any other university. Each semester, they automatically process the purchase of digital textbooks for thousands of students without their consent. The charges can amount to over $200 per student per semester, and are automatically charged to student accounts without permission. The bookstore absolves itself of liability by sending emails that notify students of a two week period to manually opt out of the purchase, during the busiest time at the start of the school year. This is unethical and I feel morally obligated to call it out for what it is: a large-scale scam hiding behind institutional policy to increase revenue.
My main preferred location for buying, purchasing, looking at, stuff for Laurier merchandise to represent our Golden Hawk nest. Albeit, I was shopping online for my Laurier Golden Hawks purple Champions crewneck sweater whilst at my pad, and, lo and behold, I got it perfectly at a splendid arrival time. Excellent work WLU is doing for the world like this!!!!
