Great thrift store!nnThere's so much in this store that I didn't have the opportunity to look at everything on my fist visit.nnThere's lots of Christmas decorations at the moment.nA great selection of housewares, giftable items, home decor.nThere are clothing and shoes for children and adults. Be careful and look at the items thoroughly, I did see a couple of items with stains or holes, but it was the exception.nnI saw from some of the reviews that the change rooms were inadequate, but I disagree. There were plenty of change rooms, and they had lots of hooks!nnWill definitely worth visiting and I'll be coming back .
I would really like to know who is doing the pricing at the MCC thrift stores? I have been going to these stores for a number of years and for the past year I have noticed a huge shift in pricing for certain items. Yesterday there was a 'Point Zero', mens winter coat chained and locked, seen better days for $150. What??? I could buy this brand new for less at Marshall's. This is just one example. MCC, the donations are free ! People come to buy items from your stores for lots of varying reasons. I understand rates of inflation, I understand having a gem donated and sometimes pricing accordingly, but seriously someone in your organization needs to revisit pricing standards. I would like a response to this review. I would like to know who I go to in your stores when I see an absolute incongruency in pricing...which is happening more and more. I love thrifting but when I see a charitable organization blatantly gouging shoppers it makes me angry and sad. If it is genuinely a miss priced item, of which there seems to be more and more, then as a shopper I need to know I can bring this to someones attention in the store that will address it. I want to end on a positive, all of the volunteers do a wonderful job, the stores are great and I donate directly to MCC as well as being a purchaser, its cyclical. Thank you for reading and letting me vent!
Huge thanks to the people and staff at New Hamburg MCC. I'm from Kitchener and visit once in awhile. Was visiting a friend and stopped by yesterday. Got a couple things and saw a coat I really liked. Decided today I'd go back for the coat and also realized I had misplaced my wallet. Brought a bag of donations items and when trying the coat asked about a lost and found. Spoke to someone else who told me a wallet had been turned in the day before. I couldn't believe my luck when I discovered it was my wallet! Everything still there, $100 cash and all my cards. Thanks so much to whomever turned it in! I will be back with donations and to shop again soon. :-
Thrift shopping is having a moment. Lots of stores masquerade, but MCC is actually a charity shop. This location has a great drive through drop off for donations with friendly staff or volunteers to help. The inside is kept clean and tidy with a good selection of well priced items. Mennonite Central Committee works at Relief, Development and Peace in vulnerable areas of our world. Hard to argue with that mission.
As far as thrift shops go, this is one of the best. Great selection of everything you can think of, baking stuff, pots and pans, dishes, collectibles, tools, sports equipment, clothing galore and the staff are friendly and fabulous. It's worth the trip to New Hamburg.
