We had lunch. We had sushi, ceviche, bacin wrapped shrimp, stuffed with cheese. Everything was flavorful. Our server was very friendly. We didn't wai long for our food.
Great food, high price, average service. Ingredients are fresh. Flavours are good. This is a super busy business, even it’s not the peak hours. Food needs time to be served and super busy staff. If you’re in a rush, besides waiting to be seated, extra time waiting for the food should be expected.
Had the Pineapple Express with fresh shrimp. Pretty tasty good amount of food for price, good amount of fresh shrimp in portion. A bit of spice added a nice bit of heat. Only complaint is that the pineapple half it came in was frozen, was expecting to be able to dig away at the pineapple favorite fruit. All in all very reminiscent of ceviche we ate in rural Mexico.
A visit to La Playita adds a little bit of fiesta sunshine to even the greyest, rainiest Vancouver days. Quality of the seafood is exceptionally high, portions are generous and every dish we've tried has been an explosion of flavour. Staff always have a big smile and warm welcome for you no matter how busy it is. Every dish we've tried here has been great but I particularly recommend the Aguachile Chiltepin if you like spice, and the Torre Hangover to share.
Straight off you can tell they didn’t do much to the space they took over, and guess what!? It doesn’t matter!! This is 10/10 the best Mexican food I’ve ever had outside of Mexico. The ceviche and agua Chile were so outstanding that we stayed and tried 4!! Cannot wait to go back! **the prices here are proper. Some think are high, but this is the price of seafood in Vancouver, and low to eat in a restaurant :
This place is authentic Mexican Sinaloa style food such an amazing taste and the sushi is so yummm why other places don’t do it like this? JB roll sushi it’s a whole thing the “El ranas” balanced and fresh. The ceviches and tostadas I almost try all but not everyone make it to the picture. Chiltepin aguachile and BC tostada and shrimp tacos are a must too. The menus is not that extensive so you can’t go wrong. If you’re into spicy ask for the chef extra spicy sauce.
We finished every bit of the ceviche!! It was that good! We had the salmon with mango and the shrimp/seafood mix. The servers are friendly. The owner was too nice to that he even lead us to the washroom which is outside by the alley. We will come back to try more from their menu.
Delicious spot in vancouver. It reminds me of a Mexican restaurant called Fishers back in Mexico City. They serve huge portions with delicious flavours and sauces. The michelada it’s overpriced and in general it’s pricey, but if you have a hangover this is the best place. You have to order the taquiquesos and the agua de horchata. A MUST
Went there for the first time. It was about 45 mins before closing when we arrived and pretty busy. The initial server was friendly and helpful. We ordered serveral drinks and food including ceviche, tostadas, tacos and “sushi”. The seafood was very good and pretty authentic. The sushi however was terrible. The kitchen was closing and it came out extremely burnt. I explained to the second server that it was over cooked and sent it back after taking a bite. No apology or anything, but when the bill came, I asked why I was charged for it and she replied “you asked for it”. I explained that although I ordered it, I did not eat it and sent it back as it was over cooked and not edible. She kept repeating that I had ordered it and had to pay for it. I didn’t want to cause a a scene, but found it extremely unacceptable. She rolled her eyes and walked to the back where she spoke to some man. Came back a few minutes later and threw the invoice on the table with the item removed. The seafood was good, but this server had a terrible attitude. For that reason alone I don’t think we will return.
I had been trying to find real mexican seafood in Vancouver and couldn't really find anything other than some disappointing ceviches. This place exceeded my expectations, all the seafood is really fresh and the flavours are amazing. Me and my girlfriend loved it, definitely going back.
