Without a question the best and most authentic Italian restaurant in the tri city area. This is the original location, and having been to both, I can say the food is better here the other La Cucina restaurant in Kitchener is owned by the same person. Chef David is consistently great, the patio has a beautiful vibe, the staff is friendly and service is on point. Highly recommend you have an Aperol spritz with your antipasti. If you're not sure what to order, any of the pasta dishes are too notch. Or my favorite is to go for the more authentic dishes like rabbit, wild boar, etc. Oh and deserts are unreal, and yes, they have gelato. Parking: Street parking
A place with great ambience to go for a birthday dinner. We sat on the patio, it was lovely. There are limited vegetarian options so be mindful about that. The service was wonderful, and everything was delicious. Would highly recommend! Vegetarian options: Limited,
Amazing meal. Great service, food came quickly and was delicious. Highly recommend the meat & cheese board to start, and the gelato for dessert. Will be coming back here for sure.
I was expecting a great meal based on the reviews but it was an all round disappointing experience for the four of us. Food was, for the most part, mediocre. The rabbit was inedible. Perhaps this was just an off plate. The other meals were okay but nothing memorable. The service was also, just okay, but again not to a high standard. I believe she was perhaps family or the owner was an older lady. Prices were good and the atmosphere was quite nice. We were in the dining room which I quite enjoyed and the rooftop patio looked awesome. I would consider returning for a seat at the patio with a nice cocktail or two and perhaps an appetizer. I should add that they did comp the one main rabbit that missed the mark and that was appreciated.
We hadn't been to La Cucina for over 5 years because we had a very mediocre experience on our last visit. On hearing numerous good reviews, we thought we'd give it another chance. While the staff was amazing, the food was definitely not up to the quality we would expect from what should be an up-scale establishment. The calamari was tough and rubbery. My wife had the gnocchi and I had the pork tenderloin. Both were lacking in flavour. I'm not sure how to reconcile the other glowing reviews here with our our experience, but I'm sad to say we won't be returning.
I typically ignore reviews that complain about the price. We all want value from whatever choices we make, so if the total experience corresponds to the cost, then why complain. La Cucina is high end dining. The food is beautifully prepared and creative, and the menu is varied. There was four of us and the all our food arrived hot, and at the same time as everybody else at the table. None of this "go ahead" guilt while somebody is waiting.
By far my favorite restaurant in Guelph. My boyfriend and I frequently dine here and have always felt very welcomed which is important to us being a younger couple late 20s as we have had poor experiences elsewhere. Along with exceptional service, the food is always excellent. Their pistachio cheesecake is to die for and when it isn’t being served the tiramisu is also a phenomenal dessert!
Seriously, this is a GEM of Guelph. The food here is to die for. Tastes fresh, proportions are just right for upscale dining, and the service is stellar. Had the pleasure of being welcomed with no reservation, and the experience was amazing. My girlfriend and i were blown away with the quality and overall vibe of the place and would HIGHLY recommend if you're looking for a classy upscale date night
The service was excellent. Our waitress had perfect timing, the food came out quickly and tasted excellent. Tomato and cheese caprese was a great appetizer and the steak and pasta were well done. Very happy with the service and the food, we will definitely be back.
The food is always great, but the service is just awful and seemingly gets worse with each visit. We used to come here for every anniversary, but after our last experience --where we were turned away for the 8pm seating due to them being too busy, even though we had a confirmed reservation via email-- we will be finding a new place to celebrate. Truly unfortunate, as this used to be a great spot to enjoy a nice dinner.
