One of the few places in Vancouver with live dancing entertainment. It’s a unique spot with flamenco dancing, music and comedy. The owner was so friendly and talked to his patrons at their tables. They serve tapas. The menu selection was not great and the food was not anything to rave about unfortunately. I expected it to be better plated and more creatively presented. The entertainment makes up for the shortfall in the food experience.
Great tasting tapas, drinks and of course flamingo dancing. My first time experiencing this dance. Felt ecstatic while being mesmerized by the rhythmic dancing along with the impressive guitar playing. I think it was the owner that greeted us but congrats on continuing this fare for another few years. Encouraging everyone to support this little gen in the community. FYI bring bills for gratuity for the dancers as there is no entrance fee. Make reservations.
We are locals in the neighborhood, and decided to give this “tapas” place a try. Food was mediocre. We came here for dinner and ordered tapenade, bruschetta, smoked salmon, patatas bravas and the lamb. The tepenade was good, the bruschetta was overpriced for diced tomatoes on bread with a shaving of Parmesan, the patatas were decent but came with a pizza sauce marinara dipping sauce from a can, and the lamb was over cooked, but palatable. We had a pitcher of sangria, which wasn’t bad, but was primarily apples and ice. Overall bad experience. There is much better fare in the area, don’t waste your time here. UPDATE: we went to Rain or Shine a block down for dessert, which instantly washed away the terrible experience at Kino.
An independent, kind of unique place where they have comedy nights on Tuesdays, and Flamenco nights from Wednesdays to Saturdays. Good selection of foods and drinks to see the shows.
Great spot for an amazing comedy scene. The owner Steve is one of the nicest people you'll ever come across. Highly recommended for the atmosphere and entertainment.
When was the last time the owner of a restaurant came over to personally thank you for visiting? not only did I see the owner personally visit every single table, he consistently checked on the whole restaurant to make sure people could see the live show and had received their food or drinks. It's encouraging to see little local places like this thriving, supporting local artists and providing a warm and welcoming casual place to go out. The dress was very casual. The crowd was mixed young and old given how late the show starts, there we're even some kids there and older grandparent aged people. Something I didn't know is the preformers would be collecting tips between sets if I had known I would have brought more cash, a decent selection of 5$ bills would have been a good idea.
Incredible flamenco night that deserves to be even more popular than it already is. The food and drink is decent too with friendly service. A true gem in Vancouver. Treasure it before it gets turned into condos
This is a very welcoming and cute gem in the Cambie Village area. This bar has few taps but Guinness is one of them, no fancy cocktails, but I do highly recommend their sangria. Also recommend the spinach dip or the nachos! The staff, and especially the man who runs the whole thing - are always very nice and attentive. They have stand up comedy on some nights. Its not very big which makes it cozy and very "local" like.
This place has been always a jewel in the "vanilla" Vancouver. It has a bright spirit, A huge heart. You feel alive with the vibrant energy of flamenco. The staff is amazingly friendly and make you feel like having a party in the living room of their home. When I'm homesick this is my place to go to uplift my mood and also to celebrate when I'm happy too. It'll be a big loss having this place closed Dear Steve, wherever you go, let us know, we'll follow you.
The Kino is the business that is at the heart of the Cambie Village. Without it, Cambie Village would lose its character. Live comedy, live performances, friendly staff, a respectable beer list, and a comfortable atmosphere make this bar one of the most welcoming places you'll ever walk into. Steve, the owner, is a great guy. He'll come and chat with you at your table and he'll make you feel right at home.
