My husband and I were so happy we went with JKB Cakes as our cake vendor for our wedding on 9/27/2014. Jerome was an absolute pleasure to work with, he made the experience of designing our cake fun. Not only are his cakes delicious but also very affordable. Our cake was delivered on time and looked beautiful. Thank you Jerome, we will definitely be repeat customers!!!
Does anyone need cakes for a wedding, birthday, or other event? Jerome at JKB Cakes in Blaine could seriously not be better. He did 33 cakes for our centerpieces last year at our wedding, and he just gave us yummy cake jars same flavor as wedding for our anniversary. Best cakes, reasonable price, family owned, and absolutely gorgeous.
I have been purchasing cakes through JKB cakes for years. Started with our wedding cake. Always excellent product, and always a great experience. Enjoy the small talk with the owners, whenever I stop into the shop. Would highly recommend using JKB Cakes.
JKB cakes is consistently one of the best cakes I've had. I've never had a bad cake, a dried out cake, or a bad experience here. Also, the frosting is light and creamy rather than some of those other bakers that use what I could only guess as being cement mortar for frosting. To top it off, Jerome is friendly and easy to work with.
Had our wedding cake done by JKB - absolutely phenomenal all around.. looks and taste! Had our daughters first birthday cake done by him also. The selection of cookies and sweets to pick up on a whim can't be beat. When you need to bring a snack to your kids events or anything else, stop in here!
My reception was in the fall and I did cupcakes with filling and had different colored frosting in fall colors. Everyone loved the little sign indicating which color frosting had what filling. They raved about the cupcakes and they went FAST! The topper was a Carrot Cake! Sorry everyone that we brought the Carrot Cake home with us - it was fabulous! In fact just ordered one from Jerome to bring for Thanksgiving.
Bought a cake for my mother online 5 days ahead of time. It was a beach theme on top. had the option for chocolate frosting and choc filling. They didn't tell me until I picked it up that they had to do white frosting. A call would have been nice. The frosting tastes like whip cream the chocolate filling is chocolate pudding. None of us were impressed. My mother wanted a "redo" cake for her birthday.
We buy a cake for our wedding anniversary every year. Love the fudge dip with raspberry filling. Never disappointed! Our only disappointment is when we buy a cake somewhere else - we should have gone to JKB!
Disappointing. I am sure other reviewers had pleasant experiences at JKB. Their owners are nice and their cakes seem to be really well decorated. But their taste and quality for the price are just not up to par with other "good" bakeries. Their prices are about the same as good bakeries, but higher than grocery store bakeries. Since JKB is close to our Blaine home, we gave them a try. We ordered 2 birthday cakes for our twin boys' birthday. We hoped JKB would offer quality similar to well known Twin Cities bakeries like Woulettes or Byerlys--or at least like other local neighborhood-type bakeries. JKB's website says their cakes are made "from scratch" and that they are known for their "light butter cream icing." Unfortunately, the cake was a bit dry and that criticism is saying something coming from me, since I am pretty easy to please with anything sweet!. But worse, the biggest disappointment was the frosting flavor. It is about what you'd expect from Cub Foods or SA's Super Mom's bakeries--maybe not even as good . I asked JKB's owner, Jerry a really nice guy, about the frosting and whether our expectations for quality were just too high. He said he didn't know if JKB's frosting was lower quality, but that they are known for being good at decorating and for that their frosting stays soft a long time desirable for graduation or wedding cakes. So, JKB is good for decorating cakes that might sit out a long time. But if taste quality matters, you may want to look elsewhere.
I have gotten a lot of cakes from JKB and they all have been great. The cake is moist and the frosting is full of flavor. They are better than any local grocery store. The store is a very friendly and warm.
