Quality over Quantity Newly opened Jin’s Shabu Shabu definitely delivers in the quality department. I normally make the trek to Koreatown on Yonge street and am always seeking a good Korean place closer to home. I have found it, this is not one of the many Korean all-you-can-eat places sprinkled throughout Markham. They really captured the nuances of Korean cuisine. Every Korean meal comes with a few small dishes of banchan. The staple Kim chi is of course included along with chapchae, bean sprouts and another dish. Each were nicely, flavored: lightly seasoned and not overpowering. It was the perfect compliment to the dakgalbi we ordered. I love banchan, it would’ve been nice if they had a few more variations though. Visually, it looks so appealing to see the different colors and textures of each dish decorating the table. The only problem would be which one to eat first. Our main dish was the dakgalbi. I loved this dish! You definitely have to get it with the cheese add on. There’s something about melted cheese that is just so appealing whether it be on pizza, poutine or spicy Korean food. The dish had a nice balance of heat and tang to it, not too overpowering but enough to see a few beads of sweat on my forehead. Once the main dish was done, get the fried rice add on. They use the remainder of the sauce and add rice to make a delicious stir fry. I’ve had it at other restaurants and this is just as good. I am definitely going back soon to try some of their other dishes. Just scrolling through their instagram pics makes me want to go back. After we were done, we finished the night off with a bubble tea at one of the many shops outside. I couldn’t of asked for a more satisfying night. Time for a nap!
We ordered the Army Stew. Food quality is good but the portion is definitely not enough for 3 people it states 2 to 3 people on the menu. We added extra fish cakes and rice cakes. They don't have snack or appetizers on their menu. However, staff are very friendly.
Nice new unique concept for hotpot. Portion is fine but I find there to be too little meat and too much vegetables. I would prefer a little bit more meat given the way the hotpot set is priced. Customer service can also be improved on more, felt ignored most of the time and had to ask for broth refill constantly as the hotpot design only allowed for a little broth to be there. Noodles in the hotpot ended up making the broth too thick due to the starch and also ended up burning in the pot. Overall design and customer needs to improved on. Not bad to try maybe once.
I ordered the seafood ramen stew for $40. It was an instant noodle ramen soup base, with two shrimps, a few clams filled with sand, and a few squid tentacles. Not worth the value for something I can easily make at home. The kimchi seems to be house made, that was my favourite part of my meal.
Pretty decent korean restaurant. It says 2-3 people but probably 2 people unless you eat very little. Friendly staff, good food. Would come back again
Ordered the Jin Shabu Shabu. Portions were very good, but not a lot of meat when you consider that it's meant to serve 2-3 people. Veggies were tasty and the broth had just enough flavour. Service was friendly and overall not a bad experience, but not a spectacular one either. Parking: Parking is available for free in the plaza.
The restaurant was really neat and the food was very delicious. Also, the service they provided was very nice. If you don’t like numb taste of Chinese hotpot then you would try Korean hotpot at this place!
Excited to have something new in Markham. We ordered the Shabu Shabu and shared among 3 girls, and we added on extra meat on the side. It was very delicious, and service was really good. The lady helped us cook and served it to us. They can definitely improve on the side dishes though, not enough variety and could better ones like the standards of Yonge/Sheppard restaurants. Super yummy, and will be back to try the iron plate for sure!
The service is great and the food is so good. The veggies are fresh and they give you so much. The meat is frozen like it normally is for shabu shabu or hotpot but great quality. Would recommend.
Lots of variety of dishes in the shabu shabu & shared pots along with good service!
