I only have great things to say about this place! Of course, the food and wine pairings were incredible and beautifully presented. We loved every single one. I was a worried that since it's a tasting menu it'd all feel a little pretentious/stuffy... not the case at all. The staff were all so warm, lively, and friendly and we felt so welcome there! I'll absolutely be recommending this place to friends and family.
We came here for our anniversary dinner and it was perfect! Seven courses and we did the wine pairing as well. All I can say is that they did everything perfectly and I wish there were more food because they were DELICIOUS! It's $120 per person which is really cheap compared to other fine dining. Would definitely recommend and come back again.
You know that scene in ratatouille when Remi is describing tasting food and seeing colors and notes. Yeah this is the first time in my life I’ve experienced that. Each course is curated to be an experience of flavors. You’ll eat stuff you’ve never knew existed but the texture, flavors, balance and quality will blow you away with each bite. Now this place is expensive and I would only recommend it to someone who is a true foodie. With excellent cocktails, service and atmosphere it’s perfect. But it is extremely small and reservations are a must if you want to have a chance to even begin to experience this place. I’ll be thinking about this meal years from now hoping to be able to see the colors I did that night.
This was our first time at this establishment. The overall experience was spectacular from excellent service to stunning food entrees with a total of eight different meals. The food display was world class; I ended up taking pictures for every dish for my photo album See for yourself. Highly recommend for any occasions especially when you want to impress people.
Managed to pick up someone else’s last minute cancellation and this dinner ended up being my favourite meal in Chicago. The tasting menu is curated perfectly with unique flavours without being overpowering. I enjoyed every single dish which is rare for me as I tend to not like at least 1 course from tasting menus. Highlights from the dinner included the seared scallop, korean yogurt and the chocolate dessert. The atmosphere of the restaurant is also calming with dim lighting and showcases pieces from Korean culture.
the inside of the restaurant is beautiful & a very intimate, quiet, beautifully-lit environment. the tasting menu is also amazing - the seafood is very high quality and the portions are more than filling for each person. i especially loved the salmon dish and the crab in the chawanmushi - they were so decadent and incredibly flavorful. the sea bream had the least flavor of the items on the tasting menu, but was cooked very well and was a much bigger piece of fish than i was expecting. the service is amazing, they gave us a special anniversary menu and were very attentive and provided detailed explanations of the dishes. they're also accommodating of allergies - i'm allergic to apples, and they swapped out the apple on the duck dish for other garnishes i could eat. for the cocktails, we tried the gochujang and the barley. both are strong and taste good - they have similar flavor profiles, but the gochujang leaves a spicy aftertaste while the barley is a bit sweeter. even the coffee here is great! we ordered cappuccinos after dinner and they were perfectly made. i'd definitely come back here again - it's one of the best spots i've been to for a special occasion.
I have to keep up my streak of reviewing Korean restaurants. Anyway, I've tried a number of Korean fusion spots, and by far, Jeong, is hands down my favorite. Sometimes I feel like fusion restaurants can stray too far away from the traditional cuisine, and I felt like the chefs at Jeong have struck a great balance in creativity and novelty but still honor what makes Korean food Korean. Everything on the tasting menu was DELICIOUS. However, I will recommend my personal must haves. The gochujang cocktail should be first choice if you decide to partake in some libations unless your spice tolerance is low. It's not spicy for those of you who can handle spice, but it has this sweet aftertaste that makes it so interesting and absolutely delicious. The scallop sitting on the beurre blanc and chives will make you want to scrape your plate clean. The salmon tartare has everything that you'd want in a single dish - citrus, fresh, some crunch, some little dollops of cream. Ugh. The kaettnip is the one that I'll always want to end my meal with. I could eat that for breakfast every morning and not get sick of it. If they sold that as a to go item, I'd be all up on that. Highly recommend this restaurant. Take your parents, your partner, impress a first date, treat yourself, etc. Just go. Seriously.
Incredible experience! Absolutely loved the tasting menu! The unique flavors blended so well together with a touch of Korean-inspired ingredients. This place reminds me of Jungsik in New York, but this place is so much better and the I honestly think the food/flavoring here is better! Jeong definitely deserves more recognition! Would definitely come back again to try a different tasting menu! We came during Valentine’s weekend, the restaurant is cozily decorated with balloons. There’s also plenty of space between tables so that you don’t feel cramped and have your privacy - the dining area isn’t too big either, overall such a lovely intimate ambience. The service was also superb. Everyone was so friendly and helpful - I couldn’t eat raw shellfish, and they substituted the oyster with a delicious prawn appetizer. Loved each and every dish on the menu!! The duck, wagyu, porridge, salmon tartare and all the desserts all had hints of flavors that reminded me of the Asian flavors and desserts I had as a kid…— I can’t wait to come back again!
It is a high end korean fusion. One type of course menu. We ordered some cocktails like maesil, boricha, yuja, old fashion yuja version. They were good. I forgot to take a picture of sea bream dish. We paid $630 before the tip for four people and drinks.
Went here for my birthday and it was a great experience. Everyone is friendly and attentive and the tasting menu is superb. Definitely recommend for any special occasion!
