Lovely experience. Such a great ymca. The staff are always so friendly, and it really has a nice community feel. Saba at the front desk was so kind and helpful and made us feel so welcome. Highly recommend for everyone especially families!

YMCA Jamie Platz is now one of the worst. Reasons are:n1. The front desk staff are super unhelpful and rude including their Supervisors.nThe Supervisor name is Justin talk about YMCA being a great charity helping others but they are gauging other families in order to do so.n2. We are not allowed to put our accounts on hold anymore while your child is currently enrolled even if that means the next session is still more than a month away. I want to enrol my kid on Aug 3 for the fall session starts September 9 but I cannot do that without putting her account off hold and even if I did that I cannot put it back on hold even if it means we cannot use it for the whole 4 weeks because we are on vacation. Its ridiculous to pay 4 weeks $23X2 of membership not being used again because we’re on vacation and that $50 extra is just to hold the spot?!n3. They’re not learning anything. My daughter has been in Star 1&2 for 1.5 years -about 3 sessions. So, what is she learning then? Or what are they teaching? They should teach her so she can improve and move on to the next level.n4. Most teachers in the basketball and soccer are young and they are impatient and not really connecting with the kids they’re teaching.nnIf I were you please stay away from Jamie Platz YMCA. Either totally run away from YMCA or go find a better location.

Disappointing Experience at YMCA: Not a Family-Friendly MomentnnAs long-time members of the YMCA, my child and I have always appreciated the family-friendly environment. However, an incident this past Saturday left us feeling disappointed.nnMy child has several classes on Saturdays, and we often get McDonald’s for lunch and eat in the YMCA lobby. This weekend, the area was particularly crowded, and all the tables were occupied—even those that looked empty were taken. I politely asked a man working on his laptop at the only large table if we could share it. He reluctantly agreed but said, “You can sit, but you can’t eat here.”nnWhen I asked again for clarification, he replied, “You can’t eat at this table because I’m working, and I don’t want anyone eating near me.” Not wanting to argue, I moved on and asked another family at a smaller table if we could join them. Thankfully, they kindly agreed, and my child was able to eat lunch there.nnThe YMCA has always been a welcoming place for families, and sharing tables is common—something I’ve both done and experienced many times. But this was the first time I’ve encountered someone claiming “ownership” of a shared table because they were working. This is a community space, not a private office.nnI hope the YMCA can remind members that shared spaces require mutual respect and consideration, especially when it comes to families with young children.

I am extremely disappointed with my family's experience at this YMCA. What should have been a safe and welcoming environment became one of the most distressing experiences we have ever had.nnDuring our visit, a staff member named Ninah made accusations against my husband that we believe were false, which resulted in the police being called. The situation was handled in a way that deeply upset and traumatized our children, who witnessed the entire incident. No family should have to experience something like this while visiting a community facility.nnWe also felt that we were treated unfairly and experienced discrimination. Rather than listening to our concerns or attempting to de-escalate the situation, we felt judged and dismissed.nnTo make matters worse, we were disappointed with the manager's response Justine. We expected a thorough investigation, compassion, and accountability, but instead we felt our concerns were ignored. A manager should ensure that all members are treated fairly and respectfully, especially when such serious allegations are involved.

We are very satisfied with Jamie Platz Childcare Centre, where our child received care. The educators are knowledgeable, kind, and patient, and they made our child feel safe and comfortable. Our child was always excited to go to daycare, which really shows the level of care, attention, and safety they provide.nnThe programs and activities are great and support children’s development in a fun and engaging way. Communication with families is also excellent, making you feel welcome and informed and giving real peace of mind that your child is in good hands.nnThe environment is warm and supportive, and all the educators care for every child, not just those in their rooms. Our child knew all the educators by name, which shows how connected and comfortable she felt.nnThank you to everyone at Jamie Platz, and a special thank you to Imelda Cajanding for creating such a positive and caring environment.
