Indigo never disappointed me ever. The shelves, book collections, ambience was awesome. Tempts me to buy more books, one of the reason for upbringing my reading habit. Started maintaining a small library at home. Price is little over than online prices, but still I would like to buy from indigo.
I used to love this store! Maryanne is our favourite staff member, and we love seeing her whenever she's in. She's 10 stars nnThe store is good and has a large selection, HOWEVER, in recent years, it's become more overcrowded and harder to move around in, especially for people in wheelchairs, the blind, etc. Too much stuff, too close together. Another issue I've noticed as of late is staff leaving stocking carts in the middle of aisles and making it hard to maneuver around, especially if disabled.nnI miss when it used to be a book store with books, journals & notebooks and magazines. Not all this extra stuff.
I would love Indigo if I had never been inside a Chapters before.nIndigo is wonderful as a clean white place to get books and biographies and the latest booktok read, I can't help but wish for Chapters. Like Indigo is the fresher prettier younger sister of your best friend, but however nice she is, she'll never replace your bestie. She doesn't get you. And Indigo is very nice, don't get me wrong. She's got scented pens and notebooks and little novelty gifts. But the thing is, Chapters had character. The Starbucks next door would fill the place with vanilla and coffee, the carpets were soft as forest moss, jazz burbled softly from hidden speakers. It was a place your dad would take you to find the next serious novel he wanted, and you would find a stack of books, snuggle into a beanbag chair in the corner, and feel safe.nI come here for overpriced mugs and bittersweet Chapters nostalgia.
I went to the indigo guelph location to purchase a book I needed for school and half the paper and text is missing. I brought it to the counter because there was not another book like it and asked if possible to get it discounted the cashier was extremely rude told us there has to be another one which I stated unless it's in the back there isn't one and if possible can it be discounted she said nope and told me I have to pay full price.. for a book with missing text and giant rip. I told her then I'm not interested walked out. Next day I went in and notice the same book was put back onto the self. You guys seriously expect people to pay full price for damaged books? What kind of place are you guys? I've been a customer for 20 years that's honestly just gross expecting people to pay for damage books and stuffing it back onto the shelf. I will not be returning to this place absolutely ridiculous
Honestly, this is less and less of a book store every time I visit. Staff is very hard to find. There is an obvious push for certain ideologies and the fact there isn't any Christian books for a Christian holiday on display or on recommend but there is a book on display and recommend for other religious or ethnic groups is very off putting.
