One of the few places where you can get lunch for <$10. Food is good. Loved the fried chicken appetizer, which was super tasty. Beef noodle soup good with yummy broth. Pork ribs in sweet and sour sauce okay although meat a little tough and sauce a little sweet for my taste. Service, like others have said, was super friendly albeit a tad slow. Random: Loud fan humming in the background.
An instant gem. Run by a husband and wife team, this small cafe restaurant may not look like much at first, but it has some yummy home style cooking at an affordable price Very affordable along with big portions. Not overly oily or salty. Fresh, tasty, this place definitely punches above its own weight class. The husband has a fiery, dedicated attitude at times Not at the customers but that is due to the dainty, ditzy cuteness of the wife who is doing her best in the front. My wife and I, both will most definitely return to try out other dishes.
We like to frequent hole in the wall restaurants but also really to support small local businesses that are maybe not so glam or instagrammable. Drove past this place and thought to drop in because it was Valentines Day and no one was in here. Only the wife was working today - taking orders and cooking and we didn’t have any plans so it was ok for us to wait. Speaking of Taiwanese cooking, expect a different twist on the food than you’re used to and think of it like your mom/aunt/grandmas homecooked take on the classics. The classics are on the menu - beef noodle soup, meat sauce on rice, dan dan noodles, zhajiang noodles, popcorn chicken. Popcorn chicken was a bit on the lighter side with tempura batter. Veggies were very well seasoned and addictive. Beef noodle soup is different from the ones around - the broth is very light, different cuts of beef and aromatic. Spicy zhajiang noodles were more healthy than elsewhere. Service is friendly and humble and all food is prepared fresh. You could hear her slicing and dicing in the kitchen and food came to the table slowly. Please do come support this small business, but please leave your impatience and ego at the door.
This was a one woman show. The restaurant ran out of pretty much everything I wanted including bubble tea. Honestly the chicken was lacking flavour and the sweet and sour pork was horrible. The meal took a long time because the one old lady was server and cook. I wouldn’t give 2 cents IF THE food was mind blowing but it isn’t. I appreciate the effort but if you can’t sustain dinner I would suggest you focus on lunch service and close the restaurant after. I see massive potential for this establishment but your execution needs revaluation. That’s just my opinion because I care about my local businesses.
The one star was for the waitress who was nice. We came here for the Taiwanese beef noodle soup but were super disappointed. The soup was bland and tasteless. The noodles were not freshly handmade tasted like dry noodles. The Shanghai fried noodles were soaked with oil and tasteless. With only two tables occupied including us, it took them more than half an hour to get our order done.
Tasty food, good portions at very affordable prices. And the lady who served us was absolutely lovely and humble. Will definitely come back to try other dishes!
Very slow service as only one wait staff and one cook. We ordered five dishes. It took about 20 minutes for the first dish to arrive. The remaining dishes arrived, one at a time, at 15 minute intervals. Two other tables arrived after us; they did not get their first dish until our order was fulfilled.
Slow service. If you want Taiwanese beef noodle soup or salted crispy chicken, that is not the place to eat. The Taiwanese beef noodle soup was totally different from the menu photo.....
Authentic, perfectly flavoured Taiwanese food. Owner is very welcoming and accommodating. If you want home cooked meals that remind you of family dinners, go here!
I have to say this restaurant gives out good portion of food in a fair price. The owner mostly work by herself and hopefully everyone accept the slow service. I will continue to support this business.
