I ordered a ma-pou tofu lunch, and found pieces of chicken in the order! I order tofu because I don’t eat animal protein, so the least I expected was to find pieces of chicken at the bottom of the container, which means they don’t wash the wok after each use, they just cook anything on top of the previous order!

I ordered from here several times but especially this last time it was the worst Chinese food I ever encountered. The sesame chicken was literally just crumbly bread, pot stickers mushy and no flavor at all. Beef fried rice was just plain white rice with boiled beef in it. Truly horribleFood: 1/5

Ordered for pick up. When we arrived to pick up, they couldn’t find the order. They forgot about it. Told us 5-10 minutes. We didn’t get the food for nearly 20. By the time we left with the order it had been 50 minutes past the time it was supposed to be finished. Customer service was terrible, wont order here again

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants! I’m always looking for sizzling rice soup which is hard to come by and House of Hunan Chicago has the best by far. I moved further away and will still drive into the city to get it!

I love the chicken pan fried noodles, nice little family run place, perfect for takeout right around the corner.

I wish I had read the other reviews before I went here. It's completely overpriced for the quality, it tastes like heated frozen food and it was cold when I got it home. They have turned their dining room into a storage closet and you have to stand in the doorway to order. The man and woman working could care less once they got your money. I returned to pick up my food and the man acknowledged that it was sitting on the counter next to him where I couldn't get to, but he continued to take phone orders instead of just walking it over to me. Finally the woman came over and wanted me to pay for it a second time because she didn't remember me from 10 mins before. When I said the guy should have helped his customer in front of him instead of on the phone she cut me off and said "yeah his fault" and started talking to the guy behind me! Such BAD customer service. I will not be back. ** UPDATE: When I reviewed my credit card transactions later I discovered House of Hunan added a charge that was not on my receipt and I did not authorize. I had to contact my credit card company to remove it. Beware this shady business.

I waited half an hour for the soup and I got mushrooms without green onions only eggs and tofu that's terrible how they treat people

Best Chinese food in the area! I love their general tso chicken, the meat they use is high quality not that grisly fried fritter BS that you get from some Chinese places and the sauce has the perfect amount of spice. The Lo Mein is amazing too, the shrimp kind is my personal favorite. They give you huge pieces of real shrimp and it’s not greasy at all. Not sure where all the negative reviews are coming from because I’ve had nothing but good experiences every time I’ve ordered from there.

We had a pretty good take-out experience. We spent about $67 for a party of 3. Egg foo young is delicious but everything else was just alright.

I’ve had this twice while visiting family in chicago. Said family visits semi-regularly and has never experienced food poisoning. The food is super good too, crab rangoons are amazing. I’ll definitely be going again whenever I visit.Takeout: Yes
