Holiday Inn Express & Suites New Buffalo MI

Rooms are clean. Staff was very nice and friendly. We hit inclimate weather and needed a quick place to stay. The price was affordable and there were no issues with our stay. Would gladly stay again.

Very clean. The room was comfortable. The breakfast was a great surprise, good assortment of food to meet anyone's need. Pool temp was perfect. Everyone we ran into was pleasant. Very nice stay!

We ran into a snow storm with white-out conditions on NYE, right about the time my 3 yr old came down with the stomach bug in the back seat of our car, so we had no choice but to stop at the nearest hotel we could find. Unfortunately, we ended up here. On the surface it looked like a pretty decent hotel, and all the reviews on their site are 4 and 5 star. (Those seem to be heavily filtered, by the way. I left a 1 star review there yesterday, and it still has not been posted.) When we got to the front desk, the clerk told us there were only 2 rooms available, and the cost would be $240. We cringed, but grabbed the room in hopes it was one of their luxury suites since we really had no choice but to stay. Again, my daughter was sick (which I told them) and the roads were obviously unsafe. When we got to our room, we found a standard room with 2 queens. Not a suite. No refrigerator. Run of the mill continental breakfast. And to top it all off, I had to ask for a new pillow case because mine was stained/dirty. There was hair on the bed spread (not ours), but we were so desperate that I pulled the top cover down, we did what we could to check for bed bugs in the bed and side table drawers (didn’t find any of those, at least), and then tried to relax for the remainder of the night. When we awoke the next morning, we found we had actually been charged $260...$5 for tax and then $15 for a hotel service fee. We got curious that evening, January 1, and checked prices at the very same hotel online -and the rate for a standard room was $85. I called the front desk the next day, January 2, told them we felt jipped and asked to speak with a manager. The clerk immediately started defending himself very rudely, and (who they stated was the manager) was equally as rude and said they had actually charged $300/night over the holidays the last year, so we were basically getting a good deal. I called corporate and got spoken to like a child and hung up on. Called corporate again, and although this clerk was kind, she said all they could do was report it to the GM and have them contact us within the next 48 hours. So now the process starts over. Mind you, I let every single one of those people know I had a sick kid and we were traveling in horrible conditions. Not at any fault of our own, btw. It was lake effect snow that popped up all of a sudden. We were off the highway within 5-10 minutes. We were excited to have a nice, clean place to sleep in for what we hoped would be a reasonable price, but we were sadly mistaken. We are in the preferred customer program, but as of now, we will probably not ever use another Holiday Inn.

Staff very hospitable. Clean room and facilities. All appliances worked well. One big problem: While enjoying breakfast, a women entered dining area with large support dog. Many tables were available throughout the large room but she and dog proceeded to table adjacent to ours and prepared to sit there. While she arranged her chair, dog laid his head between our plates and sniffed our good on plate. We love animals and admire support animals butnot in my plate! Designate areA for animals to sit w/handler away from our food and other diners, please.

I left a ring in my room and realized it 30 miles after checkout. I called and asked them to get the ring and send it to my home in Iowa. The staff were friendly and competent. My ring arrived at my home a few days after I did.
