Unlike other reviews, he has been nice to me. I use this place a lot for parts and tools. tho price is a bit high, nothing major. I've worked in hobby shop and 5 out of 10 people don't know what they're looking for, which they wants manger to teach everything. Then they get mad later because they break things with their mistake. If that's what you want ask your mom. Don't blame this guy. I saw someone in the store complain about battery quality and wants to refund his puff as F batteries. That's what hobby stores have to deal with.
I came back after the winter and so sorry to see Edward go. Hobby home is closed permanently, out of business. Sad day!!! Best of luck Edward.
I've gone here a few time got to say it was very lackluster. Ill start off with the good. I found a few 1/35 ww2 models at a good price but it was a bit of a nightmare to find them as they are disorganized just on the back shelves. The owner is willing to order parts but many places are willing to do that so that's not saying much. The bad. The owner was rude to me when i asked him for the store closing time as i didn't want to keep him past it as i know how anoying that can be to an employee. He was rude again when i asked if he had plaster saying i had no clue what i was doing and had no clue what i was even looking for. I ended up just going to the CT across the road to grab something workable. I also bought some spray paint and plastic model paint from here the spray paint was so old that it harden inside the can and was basically unusable and the other paint was starting to harden as well. I think you should still check this place out if your a hobbyist and get your own view but by no means can i recommend it too anyone.
Went to this store in order to get back into the RC hobby scene. I read through some reviews and must say the low rating and high rating reviews are correct. The service person who helped me was very informative, knowledgable about all the questions I asked him. But the comments below about him being condescending, and treating others like 5 year olds is correct. I did end up buying something from the store, but when I got home I realized I payed too much for something he said went down in price. Business is business, the guy has to pay the bills, but I did pay too much for what I bought. He only acted politely when I asked him.about purchasing products that were over 200, obviously trying to make a sale. As soon as I said I needed to do more research, being polite stopped. I asked him about batteries and what kind fits into what RC, and he started being rude again. This was a second option store I went to, the first option store was closed for boxing day. The 3 star rating is for his vast knowledge of RC's. Tie in the quality of products available, the options for beginners to expert. Loses 2 stars for service and the treatment of new customers. I wish my first experience at this store was better. I'll probably end up going back when I need something specific.
I have been shopping here since February 2014. I was looking for an RC car to begin with. Canada apparently isn't the best place to get an RC. I looked everywhere. This place was the only place that had the Traxxas I wanted. The prices are okay considering that this is the only hobby shop here like someone else said. The owner is nice- he clears everything up before the purchase is made. I didn't buy a lot of parts from this guy, but i saw that the stock levels were pretty good. Overall, this is a good place, better than the big box retailers. The somewhat high prices could be worse, though.
In this tiny store, is a world of awesome! Last visit, Edward spent at least half an hour with me making sure I had a working ESC after one I had bought earlier didn't work. Their prices are decent for the location. I love going to Hobby Home!
The complaints of this owner are bang on. I went there two days ago to buy some putty for an airplane model I am building. I asked the owner where he stocked the putty and he got mad because he had to get off his ass to get it for me. He said "I can't believe you can't see it". I confronted him on his behaviour and his tone changed quickly. The guy is an absolute douche bag. Avoid this store and go to someplace like Pinnacle where they appreciate your business.
First time shopping here and they have a pretty good selection considering the size of the store. Staff member was friendly and helpful. I've also ordered online from this store and my order was processed quickly and it was shipped and delivered quickly as well. I'll be back for sure.
I love this hobby store. He is very helpful. I can always ask for help with gifts for my boyfriend ie. Gift cards. He is patient with me. My boyfriend only goes to him. Always been very happy with him. He spends as much time as you need to get the answers you need. Always recommend this store.
Pretty helpful guy. It's more for RC hobby goers, but if you happen to be a scale model builder and you use tamiya paints, this is the place you'd get the paint. The selection of model kits are pretty bad, but that's only because I only build in 1/72 scale. Pricing is a tad bit over, but it's not that big of a deal for me
