High Praise for High Lunch As a resident of OEV, this restaurant has been on my to-do list for a while. I didn’t realize that High Lunch has been around since the 60’s and is a family owned business. Walking into this restaurant is like taking a trip back in time, very authentic diner ambiance, authenticity It also operated 24hrs “back in the day”. Greek diners usually have the highest standard for food so I had expectations. The expectations were met. My son ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with Fries and I ordered the Cheeseburger with Greek Salad. My son really enjoyed the food and told me he would return, especially if he goes to school next door. I like how they served the burger open face style, veteran move. The Greek Salad was well seasoned and not overly dressed like some Greek salads. This is a cash only business so be prepared to walk to the variety store if you don’t carry cash. Here are some things we liked overall: Food Decor Value Service I wouldn’t say the service was great and at times I felt like they just wanted me to order and get out. That being said it wasn’t bad. Average at best. I would definitely return for a quick, fresh delicious High Lunch in the future and you should too!!
Restaurant hasn’t changed much after 54 years. My wife and I ordered the Fries and gravy and Club House, tastes as good as it did back then. Owner were very friendly. We would highly recommend the restaurant.
Food was fine but poor service. I am a high school student who came in with my friends for breakfast. There were 4 of us who stepped in to eat to share a meal. The woman taking our order was impatient and we all felt overall unwelcomed. After we ordered she told us that next time we need to order more then just one meal. I then told her that we didn't have a lot of money and it is all we could afford, that was then followed with no response. I understand that the treatment from the students in the area may be poor but it is unprofessional to treat a paying customer otherwise based on their age. We planned on eating in but it got uncomfortable and took it to go .
High Lunch is a rare find these days. It has an open kitchen with bar seating around it. There are a couple of tables off to the side. Its kind of like going back to s different era when you walk in. It's a one women show. The lady behind the counter makes your order right in front of you and if you go around lunch the price is right will be on tv. I've been for breakfast which is great but my favourite dish is the clubhouse sandwich. It's made with real turkey, dark and white meat. The fries are tasty too. Make sure to bring cash, no credit or debit here. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous.
I use to go there quite often when I lived up.thst way.I took my kids there when they were young now in their 40s.Nice little diner good food .Pat is very nice and friendly as well and a good cook Love this little diner.
Nice woman/cook, easy to order and great food! Quick service. Not much seating but nice menu selection
Don't mind the bad reviews, they're from people who don't understand this certain kind of hospitality. You have to open your mouth if you need something, not wait. She's an old lady, have some respect. I've been here today with my friend to get a simple lunch. We ordered a cheeseburger, sandwich with sliced chicken and a vanilla milkshake. It tasted so good and it was made with love. Nice place, lovely lady.
The food is wonderful and fresh. We ordered cheese burgers. My boyfriend finished the burger quickly! It tasted so good. Highly recommended. So surprised! They’ve been there for 56 years.
Great place and what a friendly young lady. Come have some coffee it's the best
Been feeling a bit nostalgic of late. Wanting a old school style breakfast. Somewhere with heritage as well character. This place did not disappoint me not one bit. From the nice lady who owns this. To the food. Left happy. Knowing that I supported a local gem of London. Especially with how covid has hit our small business economies. We need to be supporting these type of places. Show her and her husband some love They been here for over 50 years.
