I love this place! <3 Hideaway is, hands down, my favourite place to go camping. In all honesty, it's the only place I go camping anymore :D. Friends/family always want to try other campsites, but I've been there, done that and I believe that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Mike and Ziba are always warm and welcoming, like visiting extended family and it's very apparent that they love what they do. The seasonal residents are friendly, cheerful, and always willing to lend a helping hand, if needed. I've been camping here since 2014. Take it from me; if you’re looking for good people, good times, and good memories, this is the place.
Lovely place. Friendly people all around and pleasant staff. Spectacular view. Only downside is that there is no wifi but that's pretty minor. Gentlemen in the office was very friendly and helpful. This next part of my review isn't for this specific place but is aimed at campers in general. I was shocked at the number of signs that were posted in common areas. Please flush the toilets. Please don't do dishes in the bathroom sinks. Please don't use tabletop BBQs on the plastic tables. I was there for three days and witnessed people breaking all of these requests. The toilets were unflushed. Our table was melted. I saw a woman doing dishes in the bathroom sink directly under the sign. Gross. You realize people wash poop off their hands in those sinks, right?! Cigarette butts all over the ground. The garbage situation was disgraceful. Management has a fantastic system with bins for every possible bit of garbage/recycling. Sadly, every single one of those bins had perishable garbage in them. Even though there were 3 dumpsters available for that kind of thing. I was so disappointed in humanity. People are entitled monsters who care only for themselves it seems. Do better campers.
Had a nice weekend camping at Hideaway park with a few families with children. The owners were very accommodating pleasant. The grounds are very clean. There is a playground for little kids, otherwise tonnes of space for games of all kinds. Sandbanks are close by for a great beach experience as well!
Nothing like being on a pontoon boat enjoying a great day with family and friends cruising West Lake and exploring the sand dunes of Sand Banks provincial park....thanks for your hospitality Bernadette and Dennis....oh and Pearl too!
We asked for a private camp site as we have dogs and can be territorial when people are near us. We were directed to a campsite that is not private at all but we were just surrounded by trailers and our campsite was literally beside the road! Very unsafe that I had to keep my dogs on leash at all times since it is a new environment and they want to wander off. Also constantly people walk past by our campsite since it is close to the road. It was very uncomfortable because it feels we are being watched as we do our own thing in our camp. It was an unpleasant first time experience for me even though my bf has been here before and he said it was nice and private. But nope you had to place us by the road around the trailers where people live and just being watched in their homes. Uncomfortable and unpleasant. I wish I would give this place a 0 rating as we specifically requested a private campsite. The other campers had privacy as we went to drive around and see the other campsites. Very bad experience here. Never going back since they purposely ignored our request and placed us in the most public campsite!!!!!
Do not come here, the guy is an extortionist. Came here with my family and he charged an extra $25 per child per day on top of the overnight rate. He then charged me more money to have my boat where, which I did last year with no charge. Moody staff, unhelpful and grumpy. If you want to be on west lake go elsewhere.
First time camping here ..not only did they welcome us last minute with wide open arms but they escorted us to a private little area. The entire camp site was so clean and peaceful everyone is soo friendly and it was only a 7 mins drive to outlet sandbanks we had an amazing weekend and look forward to going back!
I had a beautiful relaxing week that reignited my love for camping. Will definitely be going back next year.
Best camping very clean very year i go there and never had a probleme
What a wonderful campground and trailer park. Mike is absolutely brilliant, kind and very accommodating. The park itself is clean, the people are kind and friendly. We felt very safe walking through the park during the evenings, and leaving our stuff for the day to go to the beach. Definitely will be back again. Family friendly and pet friendly as well, which is nice.
