Located on the northside of Edmonton , right next to the Yellowhead trail , this park seems smaller in size but still offers lots to do. It may not have all the outdoor activities of other parks , but has a abundance of picnic tables and BBQ pits for the whole family. It also boasts a lake to fish and kayak from. And if peaceful nature hikes is more your thing there is some scenic trails that whisk you through the forest where you can get lost in the wilderness. Just another reason to call Edmonton home . Just watch out for the dogs! A huge section of the park is off leash friendly so bring the dogs.
I mostly use the off leash side. It's great, it would be nice to not have to share the bike path with dogs off leash. And maybe a toilet on the far side.
Nice area that feels natural. The dogs love exploring all the tall grasses, trees and the duck pond. Unfortunately she liked the duck pond a little too much and now gets to have a bath so she no longer smells like swamp thing.
I love coming here with my girlfriend and my puppy to hike through the trails, swim in the North Saskatchewan River on doggy beach, or to meet doggos and kids in the off-leash park. Have always had a great experience here. There's fishing, picnicking and BBQing available here too!
This is an amazing park for a walk or bike ride for families, but especially for dogs. There are paved trails and off sidewalk nature trails within and around the park. Take in the view and sights of the North Saskatchewan River and the diversity of birds and fowl in and around the ponds. The only reason why I did not give this park a 5 star rating is the the trails along the river are littered with alot of garbage, and the city often does not clean or collect along the popular fishing spots. They are currently completing upgrades for the roadway and paved trails so be aware of the construction for Fall 2021.
I'd never been here before, and was delighted by how close to REAL nature it is. What I mean is I come from the mountains of BC where I could hop into the car, drive for half an hour, park and walk to a place similar to this without paths, or picnic tables or porta potties. So I'm no knocking it at all. I think that we spent at least 2 hours talking with the Canadian geese, as they strolled towards us from the other side of the parking area. Several were banded, one of whom was being a regular bossy old thing. Neck stretched out, mouth wide open and squawking as he ran , wings semi-extended, at several others, chasing them to where he thought they should be. There were gulls of sorts and a crow hiding in the tree near us while all this was parading just in front of us. As well, there were a friendly mix of other 2 legged creatures, a variety of ages. I was pleased to see that the ones that were driving were respectful of th winged 2 legged critters. All in all, a fabulous place to sit, chat, or just enjoy.
There's disc golf here now! It's a beginner friendly course, with a variation for more experienced players. There's no heated shelters or water fountains in this park like Rundle Park has, but there are usually porta potties.
It’s one of my favorite places for taking a break away from all the busyness of work. Go with a book or some flat outdoor shoes. We had a picnic here one. You can take a lap around the park or trek along the river to Rundle Park. If you are a biker you will love it too.
Great park. I have been coming here for years and have always enjoyed the park. Lots of parking. There is washroom facilities available. There is lots of open spaces and plenty of walking trails. The park is right beside the the North Saskatchewan River. Lots of benches and picnic tables for relaxing. There is a covered picnic area that is available for rent. There is lots of birds to see, geese, ducks, pelicans and other animals.
Good place to take a walk with dog. It’s off-leashed area.
