Wow. Did this city need something like this! If you love croissants....then stop reading this....go get yourself whatever your little croissant-shaped heart desires....then come back and continue reading. I love the fact that they've designed Hazukido in such a way that you want to dine it. It's very cozy and tastefully designed. They have savoury and sweet croissants. The Truffle Crab was very interesting....the tastes lingered a short while after still...with the creamy tart-like texture of the truffle and the unforgettable distinct characteristic of the crab. I almost felt like having a Chardonnay with it rather than a coffee.....hey! they should think about getting a liquor licence! Anyway....moving on..... The Hazelnut Chocolate....yeah....no words can describe.....just pick one up...seriously. To think of it...my next cheat meal is coming up.....ok gotta go....
Came during soft open so didn’t have full menu selection, bubble tea was good didn’t try boba though at half sweet and the croissants were tasty but on the smaller side - we reheated some at home based on the instructions and they tasted pretty fresh! Chocolate croissant was a nice change not a pain au chocolate rather chocolate dough which was sweet but still light and flaky! Looking forward to trying the crab truffle flavour!
I just bought 3. They were all very tasty and delicious. They weren't overly sweet which I appreciate. No complaints in taste or texture. They have the best choice of flavors of anyone although not all are available at once. They might have 12 out when the display is full. I had to dock them 1 star because the croissants are noticeably smaller perhaps by 1/3 than croissants right around the corner at Angus T Bakery which are equally delicious. I'll still come back. Try both and you decide.
There are so many croissants varieties available and they are always making new batches throughout the day so the options are rotating depending on when you arrive. Keep in mind that these croissants are on the smaller side, so you can definitely eat more! We also ordered the brown sugar bubble tea which had a great depth of caramel flavor although the pearls were a little old and a little hard.
Love their salted egg yolk croissant. Tastes just like the Chinese salted egg yolk buns you get at dim sum but in nice flaky croissant form. Truffle crab is so so, would be nice if they use real crab instead of imitation crab. Smaller then other bakery for croissant size wise but still delicious.
This one was a tricky one to rate, because some things were great, but there were a few solid misses too. Ambience - cute spot, nice display, good seating availability. They don't have any cutlery besides disposable spoons for soup, and they don't have plates so if you're planning to sit in you'll get your croissants in a paper bag which was a bit disappointing considering it's a cafe with seating. Croissants - Croissant itself was smaller than expected and lacked the buttery and crispiness that a really good French one would have. The fillings and flavours however were quite delicious. The strawberries were fresh and the fillings the perfect sweetness. Service - staff were really nice, patient and attentive. They were able to make great recommendations too.
I came during soft opening and they opened at 12:00pm. I got there around 11:30 and there were already some people waiting in front. They didn't have the complete menu of croissants that they usually offer but they had l the flavours I wanted to try. I had the caramel croissant and the salted egg yolk croissant. Based on purely fillings, the caramel croissant was better. It wasn't overly sweet and it was creamy and luscious. The salted egg yolk croissant tasted more like a hint of salted egg yolk and mostly just custard flavour. The croissant itself was different than the usual croissants that I'm used to having. It had layers inside but it was more like a chewy bread and less like a croissant. The portion is also kind of small but for the price it makes sense. It also didn't have as much butter fragrance as I had hoped for. Be warned that there will probably be a line for the next couple days due to the giveaway that they are doing. If it were up to me, I don't think it's worth lining up for hours on time. It's worth a try but definitely not my cup of tea. I prefer more flaky and buttery croissants and this is more like bready and light.
The first time I bought croissants to go, arrived home, heated my croissant 10 seconds and was delicious. I told to my friends and they said that when they went there the food was no that tasty. Now I’m dining In, and asked for my croissant to be warmed up. The clerk refused saying that the croissants are baked daily so warming them up might affect the texture. So I tasted them cold and the flavor is totally different. It’s very unlikely I dine in again, better taking them home.
Very esthetically pleasing setup in yaletown to sit down and have a bit or two. The size of the croissant is probably half of the usual size hence the starting price of $4-7 a pop where fresh fruits would any up the price. The croissant itself is subpar as it lacks the depth and richness you want in a french croissant. The taro topping on the other hand was delicious with the right balance if flavor and sweetness. Overall, go down the block to AugusT for a better selection of croissants with delicious fillings.
I got so excited about this new bakery when I saw it on dailyhive but it leads to instant disappointment. First of all, it is the saddest bakery I have ever seen, they have less than 10 pieces of croissants available to sell in the entire store and no one takes the initiative to let the customers in line know that they don’t have anything to sell. I felt bad for the people who lined up behind us. Secondly, we were “” lucky “” to be able to try one of the last croissants they have which are the seaweed one. That’s another disappointment. It was hard, dense and they literally just add some seaweed on top Of the croissants which fell right off when I took it out of the bag. It tasted like a croissant from a super market. All the best to this new business in this competitive industry and I hope they would improve the quality of their croissants!
