Their cream buns are soft and creamy and not overly sweet. Custard cream bun-is one of their signature cream bun which is a must try. $3.89+tax White chocolate strawberry cream-bun is their seasonal special. I don't feel much chocolate taste in this one. And they use strawberry jam to add the flavor. $3.89+tax Grape sandwich-White bread with sweet cream and fresh grape. It is very sweet and fresh. The cream is sweeter than the buns. $7.5+tax Another tip, tax free if you buy 6 items.
These cream buns are so delicious - not so sweet and pretty light. They also have pudding and fruit sandos sweet and savoury here. You do need to eat them within a day or so otherwise they won’t taste fresh. I love their classic flavours such as matcha, red beans, and chocolate. Every season, they also have new flavours. Try to go early in the day , otherwise the popular flavours will be sold out. Follow me for more food adventures on Instagram @maggielicious.to
Their cream buns are very soft, with lots of filling that's light and isn't overly sweet. It's definitely better to eat them when they're fresh. I haven't tried many of their other menu items such as melon buns, pudding, or drinks, but I have previously tried their egg salad sando, which was made with pillowy bread and really yummy. This location of Hattendo is very convenient to get to, in the same plaza as Starbucks and a few other eateries, and has ample parking outside.
I am a big fan of japanese food. I’m so happy with finding real japanese bakery. I got classic custard bun and azuki bean with melon bun. I prefer melon bun! I will definately visit again to try other flavours.
The spring special white peach flavour sold out pretty fast so I didn’t get the chance to try that but the mustard and cream flavour buns ? was pretty good. Come early if you want to have more options to choose from ~
So unfortunately I didn't get to try all of the different buns I wanted. But I got the custard, whipped cream, chocolate and matcha bun. And all of them were so so good. Incredibly light and fluffy. The yuzu tea ice blend was so refreshing and light. The citrus flavor was lovely and had the perfect amount of sweetness.
The proliferation of Japanese culture through food continues across the GTA with this Hiroshima OG bakery shop. Cream buns whether with a crispy top or just soft as-is have cream fillings like milk tea, matcha, red bean, and others. They're good but wished they were bigger, I can eat mine in four bites and that's about a buck a bite as each bun is about four bucks. At least no tax charged if you get a half dozen. Hopefully the price goes down when the novelty wears off. Friendly service.
These cream buns are so delicious! Light, airy, soft, fluffy and not overly sweet. The inside flavours are pronounced so you can tell what the flavouring is but not too sweet, which is nice. These buns are so light that its easy to eat a few. Purchase 6 buns and there's no tax. They have seasonal flavours as well as their standard line up. Some of my favourites are matcha, matcha + red bean and chocolate. Service is very fast and the staff are very friendly. Definitely a must visit if you're in the Markham area or in Yorkdale.
Neat, clean, and almost transports you to Japan as you enter the shop. A nice variety of Japanese sweets and with very friendly and courteous staff. When you bite into the cream bun, it has an extremely light feeling that gives you your favorite "sweet but not too sweet" satisfaction. The bread itself is also soft and compliments the cream well. Would definitely come again!
Wonderful little place with friendly Japanese-speaking staff. Indeed, their cream buns “melt-in-the-mouth” and come with generous amount of premium quality cream in a gorgeous box. From the packaging to the labels, everything feels authentic. While the beverages and buns are rather small, considering the quality, the pricing seems reasonable. If you are into creamy desserts, you should give them a try!
