Harar Cafeteria

Went in and the owner/cook stared at me for a solid 20 seconds in absolute silence. Asked for recommendations and he took a good look at me, saw that I was Asian, and recommended the Vietnamese place next door. The place is in the heart of Chinatown and I literally came out of the Chinese grocery store so I can't say I blame him because I probably looked like a walking stereotype. He was actually a cool guy when he realized I was serious about eating there. There's no such thing as authentic food without a little judgement. Got beef tips, super solid food. I was stuffed, jolly, and about 2lbs heavier when I came out. In fact I'd bring a friend next time because good food is meant to be shared. 10/10 would recommend.

This place was long overdue. I always wanted to taste Harari food for 20 years now and this lady opens a restaurant. I love it! The food tastes great the place is clean and great environment. Families are welcomed and the staff are professional and friendly. For those who do not know where Parts of the world Harar is, it is in Ethiopia, East Africa. The food is delicious with tons of flavours and you can have your pick between spicy and mild. Just go and visit and ask for something called “fatira” out of the many delicious items, this one is for appetizer and you will go for more after one try! Yum yum. I recommend this restaurant!
