Halibut House Fish and Chips

Decent place for fish and chips - more of a fast-food style restaurant so don't expect high quality food or service. The fried fish has been good every time we have come here and is the only reason we come back. However, the grilled fish - absolutely dry and tasteless and we will probably never order again. The sides and appetizers are just okay to slightly disappointing. Would recommend to come on Sundays, Monday, or Wednesdays when they have deals. Full price would only be worth it if the sides were as good as the fried fish.

Sunday Halibut and Fries for $11.99 great deal awesome food nice and fresh always. Coleslaw is a little dry but most other places would charge double for the same amount of food. Very good portion size for fries aswell. Definitely check it out

$11 haddock & chips on Sundays & Monday simply can’t be beat. Similar cod special on Wednesdays. Seated immediately upon arrival around 7pm. Quick food service. The batter is light & done to perfection. The fish filet fills ⅓ of the plate! Another location opening in Waterloo!!

Food tastes good but this is our second time and we both felt sick after. The first time we thought it was a coincidence, second not so much. Parking: Lots of spots as the superstore plaza.

My wife and I visited the Halibut House on Highland for the first time as we had a previous positive experience at their St. Thomas restaurant. We were there Monday at 12:30 and wonderfully served by Patti. We both had the $10 Sunday and Monday Fish & Chip special. I chose the larger size haddock and my wife had the halibut only available as a special in March. Both meals were served promptly and hot, especially the excellent fries. We both enjoy their thin batter on the fish. Both pieces of fish were superb as was the cole slaw. The entire meal was a 10++ and we will definitely return again. Extremely reasonably priced. The restaurant is clean and quiet and importantly the single washroom was very clean. Highly recommended. About 6-7 other couples there and take out orders were steady too.

Had Cod dinner with fries and coleslaw. Coleslaw had no taste whatsoever, fish had way too much batter and very little fish inside. Fries were decent. Waitress never checked on me at all but a different waitress did once I was done eating. Asked how it was and I said not the best fish dinner I’ve had and wouldn’t have it again. She proceeded to bring the bill. No apology nothing. Left her debit machine on my table and didn’t come back until I was leaving. Terrible food and service. Don’t recommend this place

Just returned home from a delicious haddock and chips meal. My wife and I had the same meal and it was a great deal. The server was very pleasant and attentive. We would recommend this location whole heartedly. Parking: Lots of parking is available

Service seemed very distracted. With only one table eating and then the wife I and waiting to order... Placed my order and thought it was pricey. While I was waiting the other couple complained about the dry fish and the fact they didn't acknowledge the complaint made them very upset... Once I did get my order, it was in bags, but then again we didn't specify we were eating in even though we were sitting... Once again she said I owed her twice as much as I paid the first time, so I explained I've already paid, greif setting in... Anyway the food, I enjoyed the fries and onion rings, the fish was large enough portion but quickly dried out while we were sitting there, needed to get up and get forks, and ketchup myself, my wife ordered battered mushrooms she loves but it came with a White film on the batter, that she said tasted weird, and stated they were to dried out to even eat more then one...

Have eaten here a couple of times. Lately it seems like we are not receiving the quality/satisfaction for what we are paying. The fish is okay, the fries in the poutine we ordered needed some help. Deep fried pickles are definitely smaller portions and so is the deep fried calamari. My biggest problem was with the cost and portion size of the oreo cheesecake I ordered. The picture portrayed a sizable piece of cheesecake what I received was polar opposite. Dessert from the cheesecake factory is suppose to be good, this dessert was disappointing. It will be a long time before I come back.
