Walked in around 5pm and was not greeted despite the lady seeing us. Barely even gave us eye contact. We seated ourselves. Lady brought us menus and we were not offered any drinks. We waited for at least 20 minutes before I had to go up and approach the woman to verbally give her our order and ask for glasses of water. The customer service could really be improved as we definitely didn't get a welcoming atmosphere. Regardless, the food was amazing! Love the whitefish! Not oily, super fresh and yummy fries! Fish serving size is great. We ordered 2 piece whitefish. We left feeling satisfied and full! The food quality and prices are their saving grace. Otherwise, I would not be returning.
My personal favourite spot in the KWC region for fish and chips. The fish here is fresh and no matter which you get I have tried their cod, haddock and halibut it's always amazing. We have also tried their chicken chips, shrimp and munchers. All are decent but obviously their fish is the best item on the menu! They recently changed their munchers supplier so I don't recommend those anymore, though these used to be my wife's favourite item. I suggest getting light batter this is something you can request and also double frying the chips. They fry the fish perfectly where the fish still has a great texture but is nice and crispy on the outside. Their homemade tartar sauce is also excellent as well as boasting some of the best creamy coleslaw there is. The price is amazing especially the family packs or some of their different lunch specials. However I do recommend eating it dine-in rather than takeout as you definitely want it to be as fresh and crunchy as possible. The restaurant itself is rather small but cozy. There are a few tables, but I've never had to wait for a table. I think most people get take out so it's not usually busy. The staff are friendly and I have zero complaints regarding service. Parking: Lots of parking in the plaza. Wheelchair accessibility: Tight space but saw other folks who were in wheel chair!
Been living in the area for well over 25 years and went for the first time today, the fish was great and they give you plenty of fries with the meal. Fish I had the Cod was light and crispy! Will be going again for sure.Food: 5/5
First time going for lunch today, and have to say it's a great little place for fish & chips! We had the whitefish lunch special, and the halibut. They were all delicious, the portions were perfect for our appetite, and the service was quick and friendly. We'll happily go back!
Wow! This shop truly deserves a 4.5 star review! This local mom and pop shop truly mastered the craft and serves up some top notch fish and chips. The shop is frequented by primarily locals that have kept this hidden gem from the rest of the foodie world. It is located in a local indescript plaza that does not scream come to me but with this shop, the traffic should increase. They serve up several types of fried fish from the everyday “white fish” to the coveted Halibut. I samples the Seafood platter that includes a very decent sized halibut, 4 scallops and shrimp along with a 2 piece haddock platter that includes freshly cut fries chips, coleslaw and a wedge of lemon. The fish was all very fresh and had good texture, the batter was light and airy and not oily that many shops default to now. The scallops and shrimp were also very fresh with good texture and sweetness. The entire serving was spot on and could take on any chip shops in Toronto and then some. Their beverage selection does not include alcohol but the variety will suit any taste including a cup of non vintage Waterloo’s finest tap water. I will need to make more reasons to come to Waterloo to visit this place out before others discover this gem out!
Best place for fried fish in Kitchener in my family's opinion. They use fresh oil everyday,no smell of fish or oil when you walk in. We like the halibut with double batter.Food: 5/5
The service is terrible. I know that I went at a busy time but we were completely ignored for about 15 minutes when we first walked in. Then as we are ready to place the order we said it was to eat in so this person send us to a table. As we sat down he came up behind us and put the menu on the table. I tried to stop him from walking away because we were ready to order but again I was ignored. We waited and waited and finally left without even putting in our order. The food can be good but the service…….. Never again.
Excellent fish and chips for the price. I wish the fries were a bit crispier, but they server their purposeFood: 4/5
Customer service is awesome! The cod is awesome!! I ve taken a picture of the menu for the rest of you!!! But I will tell you the best fish and chips around!!! They are under new ownership! And I will there fries aren’t the best anymore! They seem just not the same
Fish was tasty, portions we're good. Ordered the Wednesday special for 2. Prices are good. The only problem was that the oil for the fryer was really old. It left a unmistakable taste which takes it to 3 stars.
