Price is a bit higher than other sushi places but totally worth it once we tried some appetizers and rolls. They also have a great selection of vegetarian rolls so everyone in my group can enjoy what they wanted. Staff are nice and efficient in getting us seated; restaurant is small so it’s advised to make a reservation. We could clearly see that the rolls are were made by hand carefully and freshly. Will come back soon.
Wonderful service and wonderful food. Called in to see if they take reservations but they only take walk in which was fine because there was still plenty of tables when we went on Saturday night. Ordered the sushi dinner, chicken tempura bento and a special dynamite roll. Very fresh fish and the sushi was made with care, good portions as well. One of my new go-to sushi spots downtown.
I’ve been living in Toronto for a month now and Gurume Sushi is the best meal I had so far, nothing comes remotely close. The fish is super fresh and tasty, the rice is on point and the guioza is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, with a delicious taste. It’s a little bit more pricey than the average sushi place, but believe me when I say that you are going to get your money’s worth.
Fresh, delicious, quality sushi done with a higher degree of care. Gurume isn't likely going to blow your mind or pallet with flavors/combinations you haven't tried before, but they make sure they deliver on taste and quality. Everything we ordered was fresh, packaged carefully, and excelently prepared. Rolls were a good size and rice to topping ratios on point. The oshizushi was some of the best I've ever had. Portions sizes were good but I felt they were slightly lacking on value. While the quality of ingredients is a step above what an ayce or cheaper restaurant would offer, I've had a few other restaurants with similar quality, if not slightly better, at a lower cost. That said, I still think the price is decent for what you're getting and I would still recommend Gurume to anyone in the area.
Absolutely delicious! First time at the restaurant and they were super courteous, and very friendly. They took our order very fast and the food came quickly. The sushi was fresh and the flavours were so good! I ordered aburi sushi and my mother ordered the fried tofu Bento box. I would come back again and again! I definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Toronto city! A++
Great service and great food. Price was a little on the high end but the quality of the fish was surprising. Highly recommend the sashimi dinner. The cuts are great, with salmon and butterfish being particularly delicious, and the meal is served with a bowl of rice. The miso soup was quite good as well and so was the side salad. Finish off with a Sapporo!
Really cute sushi place. Atmosphere is enjoyable, friendly service and the food was good. I’m not picky when it comes to sushi but this sushi was better than most which I have tried. Also surprisingly well priced! Definitely recommend but consider going early because they don’t have many tables and don’t take reservations.
I don't usually associate Japanese food with strong flavours, but Gurume somehow is strongly tasty. My wife and I stopped by for dinner and shared the tako wasabi, aburi scallop hako, torched rainbow dragon roll, bulgogi bento and sashimi dinner yup, we were hungry!. While we would've wanted just a bit higher quality for the price, everything was pretty good to great. Especially liked the bulgogi perfect blend of salty sweet and dragon roll good torch, huge serving. Of note, the Tako wasabi was strong on the wasabi, if that's your thing. Place had a good vibe to it and the service was quick. I get why Gurume gets all the praise.
Gurume is my favorite sushi restaurant in Toronto. I live in North York and would travel all the way Downtown just for Gurume. I love everything about this restaurant down from the little japanese corner shop vibes with booths and stalls to their quality. The fish at Gurume is always 101% constantly fresh. These two pictures are two separate visits and there’s probably more pictures of different visits hidden in my camera roll somewhere. My favorite here is the spicy salmon/tuna roll, takoyaki and dynamite roll. Their nigiri platter sushi dinner is also really delicious and fresh. I just feel like Gurume knows what they’re doing. It’s also not overpriced, it’s perfect for what you get. We end up paying around $30+ split for two people and we leave super full with a happy tummy. I love this place and I will always come back.
This place is incredible. We’ve been there for both lunch and dinner. Great quality sushi & sashimi. The Udon soups are the perfect order for a chilly day. The salmon avocado poke bowl is SO delicious & a very generous portion - I could eat this all day every day of my life.
