A small tucked-away restaurant that I visited for the first time as it’s my daughter’s favourite. I am so glad I went. I think their sushi bowls are awesome. We also had a couple of starters and everything was presented so nicely. There was only one server but she coped so nicely and with great attitude. I definitely will be going back.
Food was very tasteful along with the miso soup. Very authentic while having an amazing atmosphere. Our server Rachel was very attentive and enthusiastic while serving us. Would definitely recommend for anyone who’s a fan or is curious in Donburi.Food: 5/5
I was looking for something like this since I moved to Canada a year ago. Now I found it. The quality of the Sashimi exceeded my expectation indeed. The shrimp, scallop, uni are comparable to what I had in Japan. The service was great. Rachel explained to us how the coupons work very well! She is so caring and make sure we are served well. The food was delivered within minutes once I made my order. Definitely this would be my go-to restaurant because it is so close to my office whenever I m in office.
Came here for lunch with my brother. Much to my surprise, it’s one of the few places that serve fresh and high quality sushi and sashimi! Our waitress, Rachel, was very nice and attentive. She gave us recommendations and they did not disappoint!! Great portion, decently priced, fresh ingredients. Would definitely revisit again and 10/10 recommend this cozy spot!
New restaurant on Dundas with great atmosphere and very delicious and filling food! Some of the best donburi in Toronto! Our servers Grace and Rachel were great and very attentive. Will definitely recommend and willing be coming back againFood: 5/5
Hanadon is a Japanese restaurant that offers the "sea in a bowl" dining experience. They have a variety of menu items including delicious appetizers, donburi combos, omakase/aburi sushi, and rolls. All the dishes we tried were very enjoyable and tasty. Here is what we tried: Aburi Don [seared salmon, scallop, white fish + fish egg] - I liked how the searing of the components of the dish gave it a charred taste. The seafood was fresh and tasty! Unatama Don [grilled freshwater eel + tamago] - grilled eel never lets me down. This may be the largest piece of eel I've ever had. So tasty and savoury. Gold dragon roll - taste good as expected. Can’t really go wrong. Service was attentive and the atmosphere is clean, bright, and calming. Would definitely come back to try more!
Really delicious food, a beautiful atmosphere and all the servers were extremely kind and friendly! Super luxurious cuisine that is indicative of a great cook. I had Nicky and Rachel as my servers, and they were very sweet to us. Every interaction was met with a warm smile and a gracious attitude from Rachel, and her overall warmth made me feel welcome. Nicky was amazing as well, and recognised and switched to a native language for us. I've never been treated so well in a restaurant before, and the overall experience made me feel so good! : The bowl that I had included a free miso soup which is a nice addition as well.
Today I was celebrating one of my friends career milestones at Hana Don when she almost drank a piece of glass. We reported it immediately to our server and she took the piece of glass away. This is the first time something like this happened to us so I didn’t think of taking a photo for evidence. I asked for an apology and free meal since my friend could have ended up in the ER on what was supposed to be a great day for her. The server was very kind and understanding and helped us contact the store manager. However the store manager refused to apologize or offer a free meal. I was very disappointed at their attitude and told them I would write an honest google review about their behaviour if they don’t try to make things right. The server kept going back and forth between us but the store manager refused to take any sort of responsibility. So I took pictures and recorded part of our conversation with the consent of the server in Mandarin. I also took a picture of my bill to prove I did dine in and wrote a small note about what happened today also under supervision of the server. I am overall very upset at this experience and I don’t recommend anyone to dine here due to their poor attitude towards a potentially life threatening mistake. Edit: I have left my number with them but to this day I have yet to receive a formal apology phone call or any compensation. I would expect something more than a short google review response.
One of the most delicious features of a donburi is the rice - it should have a a firm texture that enhances the fish selection of the donburi. At Hana Don, the rice was subpar - in terms of taste and texture, it was similar to a regular bowl of jasmine rice. We reserved a table for 5 and it was awkward when everyone was seated but we had to wait over 25 minutes for someone to offer to take our order. Everyone got their food at different times ~10 minute wait in between. We ordered a bowl that was supposed to have uni in it not pictured here, but when we noticed it was missing, we asked our server. We were told that the uni was not fresh today, therefore it was not placed in the bowl - I think this should have been brought to our attention prior to ordering. Due to this, one of our guests received a small discount on their donburi. Additionally, we learned that there is a 5% cash discount after a few guests already paid with credit. My favourite part about the dinner was the miso soup - perfect temperature and flavour.
A bright and lively restaurant tucked just off of yonge and dundas square. They have a great menu made of a great variety between meat and seafood. When you get your meal you can immediately tell it's top quality ingredients used. Their seafood is exquisite.
