Story

Located in the historic Hamm Building, we are the second oldest brewery in town. Our restaurant and bar are the perfect place to grab a beer or something to eat before or after any event at the Xcel Center or local theaters. And if you feel like sitting outside, our patio is open all year. Check it out during the Winter Carnival when the entire patio is made from ice. All of our beer is hand-crafted on site using spring water from our own well. At any given time we will have up to nine of different beers on tap. We offer both cask conditioned ales and the more traditional pushed beers. We are more than just a pub. Our menu offers a wide variety that is sure to please even the pickiest of eaters. We recommend our pork wings, bac-n-beer nuts, or one of our other signature dishes. We can also host your party. Our banquet room can hold up to 300 people and we even offer brewery tours. We went to hockey game and not sure where to go after and ran into Great Waters. Very nice bartender... tall bald gentleman who was so nice! ANYWAY, I left a bag of souvenirs for my kids there and I was devastated. Called in the morning to see if we left it and no bag :( Sad as all can be packed up and ready to leave we opened our door AND THERE WAS A NOTE! The bartender saw that we left it and he brought it to my hotel!!!!!!!!! BEYOND GRATEFUL! It was above and beyond!!!!!! I called the establishment and left a message for management about how wonderful he is!! Thank you !!!! I hope you get rewarded for your good deed and my kids will be happy!!! From the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!!!!

Service , drinks & beer was good and served quick for a Friday night. Do not order a Rueben sandwich absolutely terrible! There was one slice of corned beef and one slice of deli turkey on dry toast. Fish tacos, walleye fingers and salads ordered we all enjoyed. The restaurant gets pretty loud, not a spot to go for a quiet diner, but for a bite to eat and drinks with a group of friends I would recommend it.

GREAT beer, adequate food, and a menu that hasn't changed in forever. Let's be clear, I don't mind going there — having delicious beer certainly helps, right? I'm a founding mug club member and enjoy their beer when I have a chance to stop on in. But their menu and food? The food's OK, don't get me wrong — but the menu has NEVER changed (save for maybe the price). Despite telling the wait staff to pass on the suggestion to the owner(s) to periodically introduce some fresh new options into the menu, NOTHING ever changes and it's the same ol' same ol' every time. And because it's the same menu every. single. time. ...I don't go there as often. If they want to step up their game and go beyond just being a convenient hangout for Wild games, they should step up their menu game and introduce fresh new options each week.

We were there on Dec23 reservation for 8 people. My friend went to the bathroom she came back got mixed up and waiter pointed her to the table. She was wearing high heeled boots and kinda tripped, mind you she was embarrassed and joking told the waiter must of had to many captain cokes. She only had the one. When she asked for another drink the waiter brought her water, he would not serve her because she tripped & he thought she had to much to drink being she made that comment. Her husband said WHAT! Manager came over and said it’s up to the waiter he wants to serve her.(again being she made the comment) he was also rude. Waiter missed out on a big tip.

Heads up, this review is based on the location, interior and the two beers I tried while visiting-i did not eat here. First the location near the landmark building and the public library is great. I was on foot, parking might be a challenge if you drove. The interior looked like a fun place to meet friends, clean and simple decor. Finally, the beer. I had a scotch ale and the house beer, both of which were delicious. I am not a fan of cask beers, I know blasphemy, but both beers poured very well cask conditioned. Beer purists swear by cask pulled beers, and I personally find most times beer taste flabby or stale-a testament to Great Waters is that the beer was delicious and sustained a good head. Honestly left me wondering if I simply hadn't had appropriately cask conditioned ale. Either way, delicious.
