If you are a runner and are visiting Edmonton and need a place to run, this is the place to be. I did a 10km and it was so beautiful! I parked at Government park and ran towards the two bridges, I did and in and out. A lot of people running and walking. I felt pretty safe, I highly recommend.
I always enjoy Edmonton's river valley so this spot near Government House is near ideal. There are great views, benches overlooking the river and some picnic tables and cooking spots. The paved pathway is kept in good condition and some upgrades are currently in progress. The only downside for me is that it is popular so it can get very busy, especially on weekends with good weather.
First time visit and this a great park. Fist impressions are lasting impressions and this park is clean and beautiful. It is situated right beside the North Saskatchewan River. There is a great walking/biking trail through the park that is part of the Edmonton River Valley Trail System so there is access to many other great trails. The park has picnic tables and fire pits to enjoy. There are washrooms facilities and limited parking. The views of the river are wonderful. I will definitely be coming back again. This is also the starting point for the new Edmonton Commonwealth Walkway , check it out it’s pretty cool.
I love this place and really happy that green spaces like this still exist in Edmonton. Very beautiful views, the Park is always really nice and the fountain is beautiful and gorgeous. Definitely a gem in the city.
This is a very nice park. There are lits of tree, path to walk or ride bikes, svooters, and or roller blade. The views here are panoramic. The flow of the Saskatchewan river its beatiful. This is a park with lots of tables and they is lits of room . A good park to take your children and enjoy a nice barbecue.
Well maintained park. Lots of tables in the picnic area. Amazing view of the River Valley. This park is connected to the MacKinnon Ravine Trail, so if you wanna bike or just take a walk, you can park your vehicle in this area.
Even though the main parking lot is closed for construction, the back lot is still accessible. This is my favourite park to walk along the river valley and check out the wildlife and ice bergs floating by this time of year. This park is equipped with picnic tables and firepits, as well as outhouses; a great place to take the family for an outdoor event.
Really great park! Close to trails, the river valley and grounds are well kept.
With reconstruction of the Groat road bridge access has become limited and parking is limited. The natural beauty of the Saskatchewan river valley and the paved paths are calming and make the walk quite peaceful and enjoyable. We left the park when the little ones needed a washroom and we couldn’t find one.
Always a fantastic little spot to have a picnic. Right along the trail, lots of room for activities, and outhouses available.
