Golden Sands Chinese Restaurant

This restaurant is very famous for dim sum. It was very busy and crowded when we visited on a holiday during lunch time. Luckily the waiting time wasn’t too bad to get seated. The service was good and the food was delicious. Although the price for each dim sum was more expensive than other Chinese restaurants in town, but the quality was high and the selection was unique so it was worth it.

Really enjoyed the food here. Everything was fresh, the flavours were good. The portion sizes were good. The shrimp/prawn in the Rice Crepe was large compared to other restaurants. The Sui Mai, was fantastic. Only reason why it wasn't 5 star, was price. Items were a bit pricier than other places. Service is similar to other places. Looking forward to going back.

Having come here a couple of times now, I would say some of their dim sum are ok. They do have a few unique items on their menu, but I do find their overall selection a bit limited. Their rice crepes are very smooth and thin, which is some of the best I've had in Calgary. I would stay away from any of the BBQ pork items though, as the sauce that comes with it is super runny for some reason. The man who I believe is the manager, will check in with customers to see how their meal was, which is great, considering Chinese restaurants are not the best know for excellent service.

Tasty Dim Sum place in Calgary. Dish is made fresh to order. And the presentation is nice and well designed. Ingredients is good quality and not too savoury just the perfect taste. You can experience the original flavour of the ingredients. Price is fair compared to other Dim Sum place in Calgary. Great restaurant and will come back in near future!

Found it! I had almost given up on finding Chinese food in Calgary that actually tastes as good as it does in the good restaurants in China. I just went, so I can only comment on what I ate tonight, but it was top notch: the best oysters I've had in Calgary ever, awesome shrimp, roast pigeon a favourite!, tofu/eggplant/sea food dish, cold chicken special, and rice. I was stuffed. New place so all is clean and shiny. Staff were very friendly even if their English wasn't perfect. And they created a great atmosphere with some birthday songs for a customer in the next room!

Golden Sands Chinese Restaurant is one of our top two picks for dim sum in Calgary. The owner, the manager, and staff are all very friendly and attentive. After having several dim sum lunches and confirming consistency in food quality, we decided to try dinner there. We and a friend from Las Vegas were all impressed with the meal, particularly the juicy deep fried pigeon. Since opening last Fall, Golden Sands has received rave reviews from food critics and customers, ourselves included. Keep it up!

The quality of this dim sum is unparalleled and truly crave worthy! The ingredients are fresh and well presented and the staff is fast, courteous and welcoming. The dim sum was so good, I came back again the very next day to try more menu items. So far, everything I’ve tried has been freshly made with high quality ingredients and exceptional presentation. I can’t wait to come back and try more from both the dim sum menu and the dinner menu. Do not hesitate to come down and enjoy the beautiful selection of delicious dim sum!

We've been anxiously awaiting the opening of this restaurant because it replaces one we frequented for many years. They had a soft launch a few weeks ago and the parking lot has been packed every time I drive by which is a good sign. We stopped in tonight for supper and were delighted with the quality of the food and the attentive service. We've been back for Dim Sum twice and it's been superb both times. Not only is the food great, so is their presentation of dishes like Deep Fried Taro Root which is shaped to look like swans! We had several large tables so when they brought out the egg tarts, they were decorated with flowers! I highly recommend this place for Dim Sum and dinners too!

Great taste of dim sum on the new year day! Love the egg yolk buns, beef fried noodles, scallops dumplings, shrimp dumplings, beef ball, spring rolls, etc. Definitely will try their dinner menu next time!

It was quite busy around 11:30am on a Sunday. Took about 20 minutes to get a table for two. Food is one of the top level of dim sum in Calgary. We ordered the chicken feet, spare ribs, deep fried taro pastry, and crytal noodles in XO sauce. All tastes authentic. Dim sum portions are a bit small. The reason for losing one star was because it's incredibly loud. My guest and I had to almost yell to speak across the small table. Parking: Parking was 95% full
