This is one of the rare places that open for lunch as the rather famous places for bison burger or food is only open for dinner till late. This place is located at the first level of the Best Western Inn and there are 2 ways to enter it, via the main entrance of Best Western Inn and then the side door which is the main entrance of Gold Pan Saloon or you can go by the back door which gets you to the restrooms which was how I entered but it doesn't matter as they still checked your vaccination status and ID. Do note that this place has a lot of regulars given that Whitehorse downtown is a very small downtown and everyone kind of knows each other. Don't be upset if they don't service you immediately. I found that the regulars there know the menu better than the servers. My server actually didn't know the price of the special of the day and how much the beers cost so she had to return to the bar to ask and get a menu to show us the price instead. All in all service is not strong here for new customers, but regulars know the service staff by name. The bison burger is pretty nice first time for me, gamey, lean, tasty, well marinated and burger well made. The fries were pretty good as well. As for the special of the day, it was butter chicken ended up being an Indian style of butter chicken which was fine. Beer was really cold and nice in a retro looking plastic cup probably because many customers broke them after too many a glass. Given they are one of the few lunch joints, I'm pretty happy with what I got, and service was never my emphasis anyway so this place is worth my time and stomach.
We enjoyed our pizza! Was pretty good, the crust was not too thin and not too thick! Right amount of sauce and pepperoni! Mac and cheese is really cheesey, not enough mac. Overall, good food for hotel! We shot pool for a minute too. Kid friendly until 9pm.
We found this pub to be the best in town, the staff were very friendly and nothing was a problem especially Melanka and Kelly they even serve an excellent pint of Guinness which we didn't expect to get this far from home Better Guinness glasses would have beenthe icing on the cake maybenext time at least they know how to pull a good pint. For food I would recommend the Bison Burger which was delicious . The price was reasonable and the atmosphere great.
Hello, I have always enjoyed eating here. 48 years However tonight I ordered a Ruben to go, I was staying at the hotel. I got to my room and there was no Sauerkraut on the sandwich. I returned to the bar to ask for sauerkraut, but they did not have any. I also ordered fried pickles. But they did not have those either. The staff was so friendly. Whoever is managing this place maybe should either get help or do some shopping. Again the staff was lovely and it was pretty busy.
The Gold Pan deserve 5 stars, it's a true simple & honest bar. You got sports on TV, pool table in the back, fair price beer, weekly deals, and the staff is just great. Always welcoming, regardless of what time it is. Keep up the great work. Food is good and the beer is beer. What else!
Even when arriving late, one hour before closing, the available menu items mostly pizza are fantastic. During normal dinner hours a previous night, the bacon cheddar burger was a fantastic meal with sweet potato fries.
Had a bison burger and some wings for take-out one night while staying at the Gold Rush Inn. The waitresses/bartenders did not seem very welcoming but the food itself was quite good. The next morning, they had some issues with us borrowing a plate to use in our room to re-heat the leftovers...but it worked out in the end.
Service was excellent! Very accommodating! Although the place looks very dated and in need of a renovation, the food and drinks were very good. We returned twice in the same trip. We tried a few beers, and tried a variety of food and starters from breakfast to dinner. The only dish we didn't care for was the Gold Nuggets from the dessert menu. Was hoping for more of a donut hole, and instead was more like fried pizza crust dipped in brown sugar/cinnamon. But everything else was great! Would gladly return of in the area! If my review helped, please give me a Cheers
Had dinner with ok food and great service. The next morning we had ok food with ridiculously bad service. The waitress was more interested in talking to her friends, coworkers, and texting than paying attention to her 2 tables of customers. She could have cared less about us.
The Gold Pan Saloon is located inside Best Western Gold Rush Inn where I stayed. My review is based on the service and food. The waitress mingled with all the locals and chatted with others but never even asked me how were my ribs. A customer who came in after me sat down ordered and got his food first. I watched him eat and finish his ribs. When I asked how my order was coming along. The waitress then said it will be out in one minute. The half rack of ribs was extremely salty. I was really disappointed. The fries were hard and over-cooked. My beer was fine; however, I can’t recommend this place for their food. After, I paid she never said thanks, all she said was, “we don’t take Apple Pay!”. There are so many other wonderful restaurants in Whitehorse to checkout. I don’t recommend this restaurant.
