Gold City Restaurant

I went in for the lunch special today and the place was packed. It's a really good value - put it this way, I'm stuffed. At $7 yeah you get a lot of rice but the rice is tasty - there are bits of chicken and veggies in it too. You also get your choice of soup as an appetizer and the hot and sour soup is pretty good. The Dark Horse about this little restaurant is the hot sauce they leave on the tables. It's simply delicious - really spicy, not that salty, but there's also little little hint of sweetness in it too. I put it on everything! The bean sprouts in the chop-suey are nice and fresh and crunchy. You only get three chicken balls in the chicken ball lunch special but what do you want for seven bucks? It's funny because Milton is getting a little chi chi and a lot of lunch specials I've given 5/5 here in Google Reviews don't even exist anymore. Yeah and I'd have to agree with other posters here - the owner could be a little bit friendlier as this is a hospitality business, as in HOSPITABLE... after all.

Ignore the ambience. Hands down best Chinese in Milton. Authentic. Quantity is good and so are the prices. We had egg, scallop spring rolls, chicken with vegetables and chowmein with veggies. Everything made fresh. Try it.

I'm sorry, we've given this place 3 chances - I don't see the attraction. The staff is rude and inconsistent, the food is sub-par. I'm not quite sure what they are substituting the chicken with, but it's disgusting. Not accepting debit is archaic. Front of the house staff Milton's version of the Soup Nazi.
