Story

On June 23 2003 I accidentally discovered God's Mountain. This Mediterranean style villa, built by an eccentric pioneer couple and their family, captured my heart. In the Spring of 2005, my family and I left our island home of 30 years to become the new owners of this unique 115 acre oasis.

I am captivated by the spectacular views of the lake and vineyards, the serenity and grandeur of the mountain and the eclectic ambiance of our home. This romantic Estate inspires creativity, relaxation and an abounding appreciation of nature.

Just wanted to chime in with my positive review to offset the last nasty one. God's Mountain is an absolute delight! The food, views, and staff are all amazing. Not sure who the couple is that wrote the last post but guessing it's a princess married to a wimp. Certainly this is not a fancy hotel and I could see being thrown off if that's the experience you had in mind. But there aren't cleanliness or safety issues that reasonable people should be worried about enough to leave. All of the rooms are just fine but I would recommend that it's worth upgrading to the Roofless Room or Penthouse Suite for the difference in price. We've been a number of times now and it's been great each time. Most importantly, there is a vibe at the location that is hard to describe. You can't help but feel happy and relaxed here.

It's one of those overnight stays I'll remember forever. I stayed in the roofless room. Loved it.

Gods Mountain Estate is an eclectic space with charm & character. It is one of the most unique spaces I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The atmosphere is lovely with so much to see & take in. The caterer Alexandra from a local company Bija Caterering made food for our group that was unbelievable. I left Gods Mountain Estate inspired- would recommend it to anyone seeking an "experience".

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay .....views are spectacular, Sarah was an absolute delight to deal with, as were her staff, the other guests were fun and interesting ( which was a bonus ), and the breakfasts were the best we've eaten anywhere. As we overheard one guest say "this place is like a Mediterranean villa. It's so peaceful ....if you can't relax here, you can't relax anywhere."

Nothing like the website said. We were under the impression we would be going to a well kept European inspired villa with a touch of simplicity and pastels to add to the what we thought would be open bright rooms (pictures on their website showed this). Instead the villa was dirty, un-kept, and unorganized. More of a quirky antiques place to stay. The gentleman that showed us around was very nice and cheery as well as funny! He is the only reason I rate this place "one star". When we were showed to our "lake view" room, it was a small room with no resemblance to the room we were led to believe we would be staying in. It felt like we were in the middle of the dangerous parts of Mexico. Immediately my husband and I felt very uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I don't know how to describe it beyond that. The website does state that they are not a resort (which we didn't care about) and had no tvs, radio, room service, etc (which we didn't need). However it did not state that the rooms, building, and grounds would be nothing like they try to sell it off as. It also did not state the worst customer service I have experienced in my life... As I said before, the gentleman who showed us around was very kind. And when my husband and I decided we did not want to stay because we wouldn't be able to sleep from being so uncomfortable, we went to talk to the man about getting our money back (it was expensive and we couldn't afford to waste the money). My husband spoke with the gentleman in a kind way as he always does, and the man was very polite and understood saying that we should do what we need to do, but that we must talk with the woman there who runs the villa. My husband approached this woman and she seemed very kind and chipper at first. But when he told her our concerns in a soft diplomatic way, she became very very rude. She actually held an open hand out to my husband and told him to "stop talking", intrupting him. She also told him that she doesn't want "people like [us] on [her] property", and continued to make this point over and over again while my husband was attempting to have our money returned to us. Her body language towards my husband made me feel extremely offended. My husband is a very polite and gentle man, and he always deals with situations calmly, so he said nothing to deserve to be treated in such an atrocious way. She continued to be rude to him all the way till we left. Thankfully, she gave us our money back asides from a $90 cancellation fee which we were happy to pay in order to get out of there. I cannot even describe how rude she was. I have traveled allot and same with the rest of the world, have come in contact with people who are working in a variety of places and like everyone else have their story about a worker with bad customer service, but this was by far the absolute worst I have ever experienced. How someone can be so utterly disrespectful in every way to a polite young man who wants to protect his wife and wants her to feel safe is beyond me. Now this may be more suitable for someone looking for a place to stay that is quirky and decent for a quiet getaway. Even with that though, it is very expensive. And don't get this woman upset while you stay there. I would never recommend anyone to stay here. We were very thankful to return to a campsite and sleep in the back of our truck; comfortable, feeling safe, organized, and happy.
