We have had 3 anniversary dinners at Gezellig and have been impressed each time. You can tell they have high standards for service and the food is always perfect, expertly prepared and plated. Amazing branch place in the heart of Westboro! The service was outstanding, the the food was excellent and the ambiance was just exactly what you would want in a restaurant. I really appreciate the concept that we can try two different things from the menu. Definitely one of the places I would recommend to anyone!
Located on the Western side of the heart of Ottawa, the restaurant offers a seasonal menu to renew its offerings and a rich choice of drink. I had the duck breast and the iconic butterfinger. A bit pricey, however the food was excellent.
We came here to celebrate our anniversary, and overall had a lovely evening. The staff was warm and attentive, and the restaurant itself was clean and welcoming.nnWe started with the ciabatta bread, which came with a note that part of the proceeds go to the Ottawa Network for Education—such a thoughtful initiative! It would be even better if they shared how much is donated per order to give guests a clearer sense of the impact.nnFor appetizers, we had the mussels and fries. The mussels were perfectly cooked and flavorful, and the fries were crispy and well-seasoned.nnFor our mains, we tried the duck breast and the grilled striploin. The duck breast was incredible—the portion size was just right, and the combination of tender duck, orange marmalade, and white bean purée was a standout. Every bite was delicious. The striploin was good and well-cooked, but didn’t quite leave a lasting impression.nnTo finish, we shared the lemon cream brûlée with a coffee. It was unique and refreshing—a perfect way to end the meal.nnWe also had two non-alcoholic drinks, which were well-crafted and really enjoyable.nnThe atmosphere was calm, but maybe a little too quiet—some background music at a higher volume could really enhance the vibe.nnSince it was our anniversary and my partner mentioned it in the reservation, we did appreciate the candle and the “happy anniversary” greeting, but a small on-the-house gesture like a dessert or drink would’ve made it feel more special and memorable.nnAll in all, a great dinner with a few small areas that could make the experience feel even more elevated. Would recommend!
A simply wonderful brunch spot!! We love their brunch menu of choosing two options for $28, and the portions were great! Perfect for sharing with friends and family so you can try both savory and sweet dishes. Top favourites include the breakfast poutine, eggs Benny, and French toast! We were so impressed with the delicious dishes and the service was friendly and attentive. Such a nice, brunch vibe in the restaurant too - bright and spacious. Definitely a great brunch spot in Ottawa!
