Gescan Company History
Gescan West was originally a division of Canadian General Electric Co Ltd. This division was established in the early 1920’s and was known at that time as GE Supply Sales and Distribution. The acronym Gescan (General Electric Supply Canada) was introduced by CGE in 1975.
In January 1983, CGE subsequently sold the Gescan operations in Western Canada to BRE Electric. BRE Electric also acquired exclusive use of the name Gescan and continued to use the name in Western Canada. BRE Electric merged its operations in Alberta with Gescan to form a single company; Gescan Ltd. Gescan Ltd was subsequently sold to Sonepar in October of 1989.
Today, Gescan continues to provide outstanding service to all its customers, ranging from independent contractors to national commercial and industrial enterprises.
