Gem's Jerk

Just checked the receipt and I have to take off half a star for adding an item Large Beef Soup $6.50 that we didn't order/ wasn't given. We didn't notice until days later when I looked at the receipt and I originally thought we purchased expensive drinks, hence the $45 bill. Make sure you check our receipts! Overall: 3.5/5 Original Review: We visited on a Wednesday evening and ordered a large jerk chicken dinner, a large oxtail dinner and two drinks. The jerk chicken has a little bit of spice on the skin and the meat was juicy. The oxtail was flavourful with plenty of gravy. Both were served with a little bit of slaw and a good portion of rice and peas. For $2-4 more, the large is definitely the way to go. The lady behind the counter was friendly throughout. The prices on their website are outdated and things are about $1-2 higher in October 2022. I didn't see any signs, but were told that their Daily Specials are for orders before 4pm. This restaurant was a pleasant surprise. Fast, friendly service was unexpected but soooo good to experience. Got one of their daily lunch specials, excellent value for money and comes with some salad and a bottle of water too! The food was fresh and tasty. Well seasoned with just the right amount of herbs and spices, definitely not the sugar-loaded fare offered at another popular Jamaican franchise. Seems to be currently renovating or reorganizing their seating area for in-house dining. High marks for food-freshness, variety and authentic taste. Recommended. Parking: Typical strip- mall parking situation, can be tight right outside the restaurant at rush hours but lots more parking all around the lot.

Excellent ackee and saltfish breakfast this morning. Really enjoyed the peanut porridge as well.

Great food at a great price. I had the Jerk Chicken and my son had the curry goat. Amazing. Just the right balance of flavour and heat. The people there are really nice as well. Overall a great food experience.

Nah some of the soup isn't too bad... But I'm afraid of this place as I saw a cockroach on the wall... That was a few years back so I'm not sure about now...

I don't know if the woman working was the owner or the employee, but I was really shocked and couldn't figure out why she was so disrespectful and rude. The woman is absolutely racist I wish I had a chance to give it 0 stars.

The woman working at the front is so rude. She is like are you kidding me in loud voice. Like seriously is this customer service? You can say that in a polite and calm way.

The food is so good. Flavor explosion. Got it my 1st time I could not be happier.Food: 5/5

Never had Jamaican cuisine before, but after tasting their Jerk Chicken, it's safe to say I'm now a fan

My husband just went into the shop to order jerk chicken and lady just said rude remarks about him being white and she said your skinny and all I'm in a interracial relationship and for him to make a remark about him I'm never sending him back in there again EFFING RUDE ZERO STARS FOR LIFE
