If I could give this a lower score, I would. I was employed here around the end of June - my friend and I wanted to make some quick money as we had just graduated high school and were getting ready for the summer. I knew the type of work that I was expected to be doing here and I was OK with that. However, I have never encountered such disrespectful employers and coworkers. For the period that I was there, I was treated very unfairly. I was denied the right to stack boxes simply because I am a girl and "could not handle it". As a woman of the 21st century, I have never felt so degraded. We worked alongside two of our male friends. Many times, we - the girls - were rebuked for making small mistakes whereas the boys were let off easy. The work environment is very unprofessional; employees often eat the produce which they are supposed to be packing. It was unsafe to work here. The boxes were thrown from the second floor down to someone who would then catch the boxes. Many times, the boxes were not caught by this person and instead, fell on the heads of employees. I was a victim of this more than once. The forklift drivers were easily going over 20km/h without paying attention to any of the pedestrians. They drove very recklessly. The smell of chlorine was also very present in the workplace. My clothes smelled like chlorine days after I wore them to work. Some employees did not wear the gloves that they were supposed to while handling the berries. Also, we were denied new hairnets, and were asked to re-wear old hairnets until they ripped. This is by far the most unhygienic, insolent, and dangerous facility that I have ever been employed at.
