Food Basics

I was doing my first time grocery pick up and I had questions lol I had questions about substitutions and pick up and others as well. So I called the store after placing the order. I was greeted by Mike McLain, he was kind and knowledgable, answered all my questions and took the time to explain everything to me. He wanted me to feel comfortable ordering through the app and having it become a good experience. He answered all my questions and more. The store employee who brought my groceries out was kind and helpful. A very good experience and will definitely be using this again. It's fast efficient and plus when you are in a busy schedule. This food basics has the nicest staff. The store is clean and well stocked. The produce is fresh and the prices are good,relatively speaking.

Just did our weekly grocery shop at this location. My husband grabbed a cart with a broken buckle which we couldn’t use for our daughter. The young man collecting the carts brought us a cart from inside. He was so nice and polite! We are very thankful and will be coming back to shop at this location from now on.

went there Sunday, Sept. 7, to get a bag of milk. It was around 2.45 pm, they were out of 2% for 4.98. We asked a worker if there was any in the back. He says best to come back tomorrow. Went back Monday the 8th at around 1.30, no milk. There was a worker stacking juice right beside the milk section. I asked him if they had any in the back, and he just turned and snarled, You're the third person that asked me that. I said if you had the milk, you advertise, nobody would be asking you. He said I don't drive the truck. I guess he meant to say I don't manage the store. I turned and started to walk away, he said in a sarcastic voice Have a nice day, I looked back, and he was standing there with a big grin and waving bye. I guess his job, besides stacking shelves, is to piss the customers off. WE went up to the basics on Silver Creek; they had lots. Between the management that doesn't have the product they advertise, and the attitude of their workers, I won't be spending my money here. There are other food basics stores in Guelph, and lots of other grocery stores that will be glad to take my money
