What a beautiful store. Every time I go there, I am so happy. There are beautiful things, priced fairly reasonably for what they are. A lot of quality things!

Today I went in to return a pair of earrings I purchased for my daughter. The earrings had a pink quartz stone that broke. My daughter had gone in a few weeks before me and they said she needed a receipt. While I understand it isn’t easy to refund or try to find past receipt they made no attempt to help. I either wanted my money refunded or applied to another purchase. I bought these in July and they broke after my daughter wore them twice. But because it was 2 months ago and I no longer had a receipt they wouldn’t help me. I did have a copy of the Visa purchase. They told me that wasn’t good enough. I have shopped and enjoyed this store for many years, but today I had the absolute worst customer service I’ve ever had in my home town of Nanaimo. The staff manager of the jewelry departmentwere not only condescending but were very confrontational. After being treated with no respect or common decency when I first went in.  I decided to call and speak to the manager. When I called to speak to the manager they refused to put me through and just hung up on me. I had to go back down to the store to actually talk to him and he was abrupt and put out that I didn’t have a paper receipt. I had a photo of my Visa bill with the total purchase and date of purchase on it. He said he could find the receipt online but it would take over an hour. I said I would wait. All the while listening to staff making unprofessional and unkind comments. It took him 10 minutes to find the copy on line. I will never shop here again or recommend this store to anyone. They all need a course in kindness and customer service.

The Flying Fish is a locally owned treasure. What a great place to spend some time browsing through a wide variety of interesting, high quality kitchen, home decor, clothing and jewelry items. The friendly owners and staff are present, welcoming and helpful in just the right measure and tone. So glad they have weathered the pandemic storm. Make sure to support this great local business with a purchase of some kind when you visit!

Really cool shop with lots of fun stock. They also stock a really good variety of Fiesta ceramics which are lovely.

I've been living in Nanaimo for about four years but, whenever I passed by Flying Fish by, I kept thinking that it is a furniture store. However, it turns out that this is a lovely cooking and baking supply store that has many of the kitchen essentials that I've struggled to locate in the various big-box stores around town.  The owners and staff are friendly and helpful, and the selection for most things is varied and fun. I expect I'll keep coming back here as I uplevel my cooking skills and I highly recommend this shop for angle looking for that one special tool or utensil.

Great selection of kitchen ware and other home decor. Also furniture, cards, cook books, Fiesta ware, soaps, novelty items, bottled sauces and dressings, etc.

Lovely store with a variety of tasteful and practical items with some fun mixed in. My mother was able to navigate easily through the store with her walker. I always find something to purchase:
