Took the bikes here and theres lots of nice trails with some great views. Not too challenging since there's not many big hills. We even saw a deer in the fields which was really nice.
Ah yes. Good ol' Fish Creek Park. This is another Calgary classic. Great for walking, running, biking, bird-watching, fishing, picnicking, etc. It's surprisingly large. It's actually one of the largest urban parks in North America and the second-largest urban park in Canada. And it's the only provincial park in Calgary's city limits. Just one more reason why Calgary is the most livable city. Ever.
I love to go on walks. I see a variety of flora and fauna. Lots of photos but not very good, but I have fun. I also walk for distance and enjoy the trails. Last weekend the friends of Fish Creek had posted a short but informative walk. I found it relaxing.
I always love coming to Fish Creek Park. So beautiful and peaceful. I wish we had more warm months so I could spend more time here. Little treasures of nature everywhere. The park where you can become a Disney Princess look through the pictures to know what I mean by that Peace and quiet and a great place for a birthday lunch with your kids.
A huge park along the Bow River and other creeks. So beautiful and wonderful for walking, biking, picnics, fire pits and exploring. Ice caves are quite interesting. Great places to eat at Bow Ranche. Wildlife and bird watching and photography.
Fish creek is really big. This time I went on a 11KM hike trail around sikome lake. It was a really beautiful walk. It was a foggy morning at first but cleared up as the sun came out. Parked at the Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant and went from there. Coming back the trail had more people and most people came to do photoshoot as well. With the fall colours, it’s a beautiful place for photoshoot.
Just a dry hole right now as of April 2022. Not sure if or when their going to fill with water because all the health problems. For now, it's great for riding the trails, paths and roads behind the beach concessions. You can't actually ride the paths inside the beach area. Lots of people in parking area coming from Shaunessy and parking lot can be busy when it's nice weather even though the watering hole is closed now. The beach is closed and only trails and parking lots around fenced beach are open today.
Especially in the rain this creek is fresh, and beautiful. Came in via the Mcinnis and Holloway access and parked 6am, virtually deserted. Brought an umbrella but didnt need till walking back from out of tree cover. Wildlife was highly active this time of day, and almost no residential noise. That left me with a walk with birds, ducks, deer and the water's edge ripples. Expect to get wet from grass and brush, and muddy if you go on along the river like I did. It's probably unsafe, to be so close and the mud feels scary as you sink in- but how else to wash away the city from your sole?
We are so blessed to have such a gorgeous park right in the middle of our city. One part of the park that is beautiful for Fall colours is right by Anne's Café and The Ranche Restaurant. What a beautiful place for snapping selfies and nature photos. There is a lot of parking here and the paths are really easy to walk down. This is important especially if you have wagons for kids or elderly walking with you. There is a nice variety of scenes from trees to fields, to a bridge or old fashioned buildings. Once you are done you can grab a coffee and sit outside and just feel blessed to be in such a beautiful place.
One of the cities gems. Calgary's bike pathway network is world class and its phenomenal you can cycles hundreds of kilometers through breath taking natural areas like this. Restrooms: Trailheads and day-use areas have washrooms and water fountains Picnic area: Several walk-in picnic areas, easy access
