Fig Mediterranean Deli

Quality might be declining. I bought a few items for lunch yesterday and ended up throwing them into the compost this morning. Spanakopita was very tasteless and spinach almost black. The chicken samosa was equally bland and didn't taste fresh. We were most disappointed in 4 pieces of baklava that were soaked in some kind of grease I do not recognize...not honey, maybe not even cane sugar. the nuts were not fresh and they were COLORED GREEN. Nobody colors their food unless it is low quality. The only thing that was up to previous quality was the fatoosh pasta salad. I had to clear my throat for hours after eating the baklava. Of huge concern is when I asked the young lady behind the counter if it was pistachio she said yes. I asked 'any other types of nuts?'. She said no. Actually it was a bunch of different types of nuts, all bland and tasteless and all coloured green. Possibly NO pistachios at all. Maybe employees should take this a bit more seriously for those who have allergies.

Great little deli. Stopped in today while visiting from Vancouver. Got some spanikopita and samosa. Since it was after 5 and they close at 6 a lot of deli items were out of stock. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Got one chicken and one veg samosa and we split it. We both liked veg one better, and the dough and flavour reminded us more of egg roll than traditional samosa. It comes with mango chutney. Will have the spanikopita from breakfast tomorrow. Found an amazing tea from Greece, mountain tea, it is absolutely delicious, I will be back for more, and try other deli items. Update: came here earlier in the day and tried more things. So impressed and happy with this shop. Amazing olives and feta, tzaziki, my favourites are the cheese spanikopita, and a brilliant lentil/noodle salad forget the name but I highly recommend, it comes with hot sauce, delicious!

You have to love a place where the owner greets you warmly. The prepared food is generous and very tasty with those authentic Middle Eastern flavors. The grocery side offers plenty of olive oils, dates, spices, and whatever you need to make that feast you always wanted to try making. Then try the sticky sweet desserts! It's all the way across town for me, but I'll easily make that drive because I want the real thing! Fig Med Deli is awesome!

I was really impressed by the selection of dried, canned, and preserved foods. This is by far the best Mediterranean deli in Victoria, something I have greatly missed since I left the Okanagan. I saw several items that I had previously been only able to find online like Diamond Kosher Salt and Salt Cod. Decent selection of tinned fish. The store was also immaculately clean and very well organized. I look forward to trying the hot food as well.

Great selection of dry goods at reasonable prices. The prepared food is great too, the walnut dip is a standout! I love fatoush salad, but the version here could be greatly improved by having a bit less dressing and adding the bread when it gets served rather than letting it get soggy in the display case.

Good spot for mediterranean food. Got the chicken shawarma. It was fine: chicken was not dry, pickles and veggies were a bit underwhelming flavor lacking, pita was good. Service was nice, place was clean. Browsed the shelves and looks like they have a nice selection of shelf stable foods.

I have been buying black olives from the deli for decades. There are many specialties from my childhood. I never leave the Fig without saying hi to the owner as well. As the other staff he is very helpful.

This is the most affordable delicatessen I’ve been to in Victoria. High quality products as well, and the store has a great ambience to it. If only it wasn’t in Saanich.

Best selection of Mediterranean food in Victoria. Good for spices, staples and olive oil. Popular deli takeout. Nice to have this range of choice here. They have done well from their original location on Reynolds Rd. .. service and selection. Excellent deli selection as well and now stocking more central European product like kasba

Fig is and always has been great. Super variety of imported foods, which is always being added too. Then there's the kitchen with its brick oven. You can get food to go or eat it in the covered patio.
