Down home & great chowder. This restaurant is about as "Mom & Pop" style as you can get. No frills, basic, old style furniture, but clean, super friendly staff, and really popular among the locals. This is one of the places the tourists don't know about but the locals love. They win awards from local street paper The Coast for their chowder, and it really deserves the awards. Due to it's popularity, it frequently has long queues to get a table, which I don't like, but it is a small restaurant. It is not in a scenic part of Halifax, (no views really) but if you want something like an old traditional roast beef dinner with mashed potatoes, or a hot chicken sandwich with gravy on the sandwich and mashed potatoes, this is your place.

I go to the Esquire almost every Sunday for breakfast and I’ve never been disappointed. I also go for lunch or supper from time to time and the home style meals are excellent. The staff is so friendly, prices are good and it’s always a pleasure. Thank you to the Esquire folks!

This small diner is clean and bright yet has been a fixture of Bedford/Halifax for decades. Friendly staff, good food, plenty of free parking. Accessible entry.

Dad and love this place. Fast friendly service and awesome food.. What more do you need. Don't take my word for it.. Drop in and see and feel the hospitality for yourselves.

Busy spot. Very clean. It has a feel of an old diner. Club sandwich is very good. Lots of fries.
