Pretty chill arcade center & bar. You get 4 tokens for $1. Lots of game options. Enjoyed playing Mario & Tetris and reminded me of the times many years ago when we played these as kids. We spent about an hour playing and had fun. Nice place for a relaxed evening with friends or a date.
Had a great experience. The price of the arcade games were reasonable. Would visit again.
Overall it is a good experience, for games it has more selection of games compared to its twin up the street. Not somewhere to stay all night but maybe a cool spot for Bar hopping . Drinks are relatively small, the games they have are pretty old fashioned and are pretty worn down now. Games are cheap to play which is good . And the wait times to play are okay as well, people tend to be generous with time.
Several games had issues. Either not working/on 5 or so games or they weren't operating to full function coin slots jammed, joystick or button not working/missing, light gun not working, air hockey puck not gliding. Pinball machines were all fine. Those are more interesting to me but take 2 tokens rather than 1. I'd be back if they can get games to work.
Very sociable staff, reasonably priced drinks & a good getaway from the daily hustle. Younger crowd 25-35 but still worthy of visiting bc of its diversity & options to play games, pool or just hang out. In an area that's pretty pretentious, this place is a getaway.
Short version, go to the one in Logan Square instead. I really enjoy Emporium, but this was my first time at the Wicker park location. I was bummed that this experience was so much worse than my other ones at Logan Square. Where to start... -Token machine was broken so you had to get tokens from the bar. -I ordered a beer that cost 8 dollars according to the menu, and was charged 9 before tip. -The first pinball machine I tried was broken and had a piece trapping a ball so that the machine thought the game was still playing... Didn't realize until it ate 3 tokens. However, the guy at the bar gave me 3 more tokens after I told him about it. Cool. -Tried house of the dead, but the controller was broken and you couldn't shoot effectively. -Tried another game that ate more tokens, token release didn't work, and it didn't register any credits. -Men's restroom stall door doesn't close, so I had to drape my jacket over the door to prevent someone from walking in on me. After that, I gave up. Disappointed overall, but still 2 stars cuz it's a cool vibe for a bar.
Would be cooler if the game machines actually worked - many were marked out of order and the ones that were "in order" had problems. A pinball machine I was playing completely lost power at one point, the joysticks on some of the games didn't work...they obviously aren't putting the money or effort into maintaining their machines. Logan Hardware is much better.
Most of the games have broken buttons. They say no drinks on the games, but give you no tables to put drinks on between the games while you play. Overall fairly poor experience
Great bar and bar staff. Lots if original arcade video games. Two bar locations and a full line if Local craft beers on tap. Live music in one of their rooms that have a stage. Nice ambience with graffiti murals all over the walls. I would definitely go back there again and again. Great for partys and special occasions with friends or coworkers.
Love it here this is the place to be most definitely if you got a group of friends. It's safe n loving staff. On top of everything they have amazing drinks
