Love this park. Ive done a few trails. I did the trail with the woods bison on the opposite side of the road. It took about 5 hours but it was easy enough terrain and offered some great views. I've also done some smaller hikes on the main side of the park with the plains bison. The park staff can show you the best trails for you in the visitor center. I have never failed to see bison at the park, but not always on the trails, sometimes you have to drive. Good snowshoe/xcountry skiing and hiking trails, and good spots for a swim and a picnic in the summer.

This is an excellent federal park within driving distance from Edmonton. Lots of great memories made here. The boat/kayak rental is very useful for those without their own equipment to take full advantage of the beautiful lake.

What a memorable experience! We went at Sunset. Absolutely stunning in Beauty, and bursting with nature. We went on a wonderful hike that took us deep into trails, and across fields. Picnic areas are reasonably well appointed, and rest rooms are accessible at nearly every turn.

A beautiful day. Blue sky and sunshine. The roads were clear and we'll maintained. We were able to see 2 mule deer and 2 buffalo.

Elk island is so close to Edmonton and a great get away from the city life. Well maintained and lots of parking unless there’s an event on. Then you have to make sure you are early!!
