I feel incredibly lucky to have a place like this close by. You can enjoy forest bathing while feeling the lake sparkling in the sunlight and the forest path full of phytoncide. The forest road is well-maintained enough to allow trail running.
Elk Lake is busy and full of busy community experiences. From people training, the rowers out on the lake, to fishermen and friends connecting. I've been coming here for almost 30 years and it stays one of my favourite places.
lots of people swimming innthe lakez the water was warm and quite shallow for a long distance. Nice place to bring younger kids. The beach is also nice and sandy. Kids can bring their sand toys and play. The washrooms are out of order just now so they have the mobile/portable washrooms. There's a hike trail too if anyone wishes to go on it.
As my local park, I’m so lucky! It’s the best park to drive through. From Elk Lake Road, you turn into the park - drive slowly over the speed bumps through the dense forest and as you view opens up, you’ve arrived at the most tranquil, magical place! The lake has a beach, there’s The Nature Building to visit. Clean washrooms! A great place for a quick lunch break in the park bring your own food and sit in your car and admire the views or take up a picnic table. Be sure to attend the annual free Strawberry Festival in July but get there early to park as it’s B U S Y !
Easy to access. Lots of lake front space. Lake plants are raked out for a perimeter around the beach access, although lots of plant bits float and collect along the beach. There are boats and paddleboards. Lots of picnic tables. Trees and shady places as well as a wooden climbing/playground space. Didn't use the bathrooms so can't speak to them. Water was so warm this year great for all ages and swimming skills.
Wonderful 10km flat loop around the lake, excellent for training for running or extending mileage for an up and coming backpacking trip. Playground: Great new playground! Restrooms: Open restrooms along the 10km loop and one outhouse.
Nice park to chill! We also saw some people finishing and doing every kind of water activities there
Yet another great place to walk, run or ride in this beautiful province. We have been living on the island for a month now and have found all these parks to be in spectacular condition and well maintained. A bit cold yesterday but nothing that would interfere with our family outing. The island has so much to offer in terms of exercise, my kids would not be involved or interested in these types of walks and day trips if we were anywhere else. Plenty of great pictures to be taken here. Highly recommended and definitely worth repeating the trip several times. Hope to see you out there.
Lovely place for going walking. The public washrooms need some love. They were discusting. Playground: There is a playground for kids Restrooms: Very dirty.
I went on 10k trail of Elk and Beaver Lake. Started off early in morning on Sunday and completed the hike in a total of almost 3 hrs. Enjoyed every moment of the trail. Although we did just the hiking and walking around the lake but there are many other recreational activities that one can do such as cycling only in multi-use trails, horse riding, swimming in designated spots, canoeing and fishing Rainbow Trout. It’s also an excellent location for picnics, beaches sun bathing in summers and there is also a nature centre Working hrs are 1-4 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, July to August. The fishing float is accessible by wheel chair. The park is located by side of Patricia Bay Highway no.17 in Saanich and covers an area of 442.77 hectares. All in all a must do trek for everyone particularly for beginners. Thank you Victoria for such beautiful memories for life time.
