the food was very good. the chicken dish was excellently balanced with the greens and the sauce. the eggplant appetizer also had expert flavor balance, smoky and perfectly cooked. cocktails were also all excellently mixed and surprising. 4 stars because our waiter was consistently nowhere to be found and our dinners were served about 10 minutes apart, so my dates was getting cold while i was waiting for mine to be served. also, the portions for the dinners was odd — he got the pasta, and it came out in a smaller bowl, and my 1/2 chicken was a huge plate of food that would be more than enough for 2 people i was sure they meant one of those small hens — but no, it was a full on half of a chicken you can also get a whole chicken the real tip is that if you’re seeing a show at thalia hall you get a special side entrance from the restaurant and they’ll keep your leftovers boxed up in the fridge for you while you see the show so you don’t have to carry them around. that is a great touch of service.
I’ve been to Dusek’s several times and keep coming back for the insanely friendly waiters, the well priced drinks, and the ever-changing menu. We have been consistently impressed with the quality of the food. Highly recommend the marinated eggplant dish and the pork chop. If you grab an early dinner there’s usually no wait but the place does get quite busy later on.
We came here for Valentine’s Day and had the tasting menu. The atmosphere was ok. We weren’t impressed with the quality of the food. Our breads were burned as you can see in the photo. Many dishes were really salty. It took awhile to get our food. I totally understand the delay due to the Valentine’s Day traffic. However, if the food was better, we wouldn’t mind waiting.
Came here for the first time during Chicago Restaurant Week and did the tasting menu with wine pairings. Absolutely delicious and a pretty cool atmosphere. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable as well. Everything was so good, and we had a great time!
I have been to Dusek's a few times and each time it has been great! My favorite meal was the Chicago restaurant week menu that they served in 2022. Every dish we had was incredibly fresh and delicious. We had - Pate - Apple salad - Parppadelle - Beet Salad - Trout - Tempura Cauliflower - Rockfish - Kentucky Butter Cake - More things I forgot! Everything was great, but the hands down fan favorite was the Kentucky butter Cake. I am not a dessert person, but wow it was amazing. Everyone in our group thought so as well. We even debated ordering more and taking it home. This place is great if you want to get casual drinks, get together with friends, a date, or have a very nice meal. I would definitely recommend that people head over to Pilsen to check this place out.
Had an early dinner at the bar, wild mushroom ravioli was good but would have liked more flavor, friend had tie spinach dip in a bread “cup” and thought it was very good. Excellent local beer choices, cocktails looked good. Service attentive. Upscale tavern, downstairs restroom.Food: 4/5
We had a fantastic meal at Dusek’s. Service here is great - really friendly and accommodating, and the food is a really cool combination of down to earth but refined. Definitely recommend.Recommended dishesBeet & Brine, Tempura Fried Cauliflower, Beef Tartare
I highly recommend Dusek’s tasting menu! It was a fun adventure with flavors and ingredients and great value for the cost. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious! We also loved the atmosphere of the restaurant.Dine in: Yes
I don’t really take time to write down review for places but this place it’s actually worth it. The food was outstanding , the atmosphere was mysterious and elegant and the service.. the service was the best part. Lydia. You’re an amazing server , knowledgeable about the menu, charismatic, and kind. I need to say it. It was a perfect experience. Thank you so much definitely coming back soon.
I've been watching to get dinner at Dusek's for years and years, and I was glad to finally have the opportunity on a Sunday evening. Got a seat immediately, considered getting the prix fixe menu, but went a la carte instead with the eggplant appetizer, avocado salad and rockfish main dish. With a couple of beers, it came to $10 less than the prix fixe, so it was reasonable from that perspective, but the food was so good, I would have spent extra to get the pork chop or other main and a dessert, then, I guess, my drinks, but still all worth it. The sweet & sour marinated eggplant was laid out on top of the whipped robiolina and tasted great spread on the savory sourdough from middle brow brewing, apparently!, the avocado salad had a great crunch from the quinoa and was the first dish to disappear, followed by the roasted rockfish. I had a Hopewell pale ale, and then the house beer, the aptly chosen pilsner by On Tour I see what you did there Thalia Hall!. We stayed way too long, and our server Zach was very patient. Thank you everyone at Dusek's.
