Feels like a typical bar. The food was much better than I expected at a typical bar. Had the spicy chicken wrap, which was really awesome. The sweet potato tater tots were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Definitely surprised by how good the food was.
The place has a wonderful warm and friendly vibe. The employees were great and chill, and were very accommodating for food adjustment requests. I had an impossible burger with fire fries and a cherry coke and it was delicious! The ingredients were fresh and prepared to perfection. I highly recommend it and would go back any time.
Third Rail has Moose Drool on tap. It’s so rare on this side of the country. John was wonderful and knowledgeable of all the draft craft beers. The food was great. My niece and I had a very pleasant experience. Good music always help too!
We love our local bar. The food is great. Especially the seasoned fries. Also… this seltzer… try it! You won’t regret it! Yum! They have an outside covered patio in the back. TVs as well to watch sports if they’re on.
I came in from the cold on a Sunday evening and sat down on the end of the long bar. There are also tables around the opposite wall. Some of those were occupied but most people were seated at the bar watching the NFL games on one of the many TVs in this smaller establishment. I started with an Old Fashioned that was well done. It was more bar-like in that it was a glass filled with ice but it didn't water down too much. I typically prefer a single cube but that's only in places specializing in cocktails. This Old Fashioned was quite good and I was happy. I waited a while and then ordered a couple sliders and the fire fries. The sliders pulled pork and corned beef were very good. I paired them with a hazy IPA on tap that was also surprisingly good. This all while people watched games, yelled for their teams, talked with the bartender or said quietly. The place was never too loud but it was also not packed. In all I really enjoyed the place and will be back as I return to Chicago.
First timer. Burger. Staff, wings were sooo good. My new favorite place when I come to Chicago.......Finally. Got to come back to Third Rail Tavern today. They did not disappoint. Got the T-Chase Burger and tavern fries. Cooked to perfection. Medium rare. Had to order it to go as I was driving back to Indiana. All I can say is. OMG. Love this place.
Absolutely love this place! This has the most "townie" feel of any sports bar I've been to in the West Loop but in a good way! 1 star removed because the food is pretty average a lot of the options definitely just prepared from frozen, but, if you're just looking for a place to grab a drink in the area, this is a great option.
I used to love third rail, especially for their food. But the new wings they have are not good. Please switch back to your breaded wings! Updated 3/27/2023: I had to change my ratings after two recent less than ideal experiences. I’m assuming management must have changed because there are a lot of new and rude workers. Plus the rules change what seems like daily. On two separate occasions I’ve been told either they don’t serve food or they’re done selling food. Which one is it?! Plus the server was rude and remarked “I don’t know what’s going on, I just work here.” What an incredibly irresponsible and unprofessional statement to make. This establishment has officially lost me as a loyal customer, which sucks because this is a neighborhood bar but the quality and customer service has severely declined.
Fabulous neighborhood bar with cold beer, yummy food, and great service. The sweet potato tots are superb. Add an egg to the BLT....you'll thank me later.
