DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Gatineau-Ottawa

We paid for a Queen room and got a double bed, very small. The bathroom was dirty. We only stayed one night and spent most of the time at the spa, which is awesome. The Asian restaurant is pricey but very good. The gym is also cool but there were no towels and no water. I think because of the spa is a really good deal, the room wasn’t too bad, is just wasn’t what we paid for. The staff was helpful. Very busy for parking. Next time I’ll book the cheapest room with two beds so we can sleep comfortably, but hotel aside, the real winner is the spa which again, so awesome!

First time thinking of going here….read this first. Spent two nights at the hotel to take advantage of the spa facilities and restaurants. I wrote separate reviews on the restaurants. We went on a Wednesday to Friday. Friday was very busy, long line ups. The staff was pleasant and friendly, speaking English when asked. The experience began with the electronic room keys not working ! was fixed by mid evening. Despite being inconvenient, the staff was friendly but I sensed frustration in them. The rooms were clean and comfy. The windows are in need of replacement or repairs. The seals are shot and full of moisture, you can’t see out on two out of four windows. Customer service at the spa entry point was very friendly and accommodating. The first contact was the Spa facilities were clean and very hotel like - not world class spa rated by any means. Some facilities were closed - the fountain. They need more hanging hooks for robe and towels. The facilities are just pools, big hot tubs, steam room and saunas - nothing spa like other local establishments or what you would expect in western Canada or Europe. Steam room was my favourite. Lots of security staff to assist throughout the facility. The last day we experienced one elevator not working! Ok, if you are on the first floor. Would we go again? Yes but not overnight. I would stay in downtown Ottawa.

I came here to relax and get away with my wife and didn’t mind paying the money but expected 5 star quality: it wasn’t worth the money. First, we got push back at the spa twice even if we had paid for a package with our rooms. We asked for robes for the spa: took 3 days to get them. The elevators were slow and you can hear EVERYTHING in the rooms. The staff don’t clean the rooms everyday what??? we were told we need to ask 24 hours in advance if we want our rooms cleaned… we wanted to watch a movie and we were told we could but no one really knew how… we tried 2 nights in a row and gave up. The spa was great and we liked the fact we could talk but there’s a limit: I had to ask this couple to stop shouting - this is not acceptable for a spa… sorry! The room keys were not working EVER - we had to continuously go back to the front desk and wait for the slow elevator to deactivate our keys. That was really annoying. On our last day, cleaning staff knocked quickly at 9 am while I getting dressed and just entered the room?? Who cleans at 9 the day of check out? Lastly, the room was VERY dusty. We didn’t notice it at first, but as soon as the sun came up… the dust was VERY apparent. People with respiratory issues: don’t go there. We are not going back… spa, yes. Hotel: hard no. Too bad, the hotel has great potential

Lovely hotel, especially the staff. I had a really lovely experience, and a front desk agent named Vincent was quick to not only help me out in a situation where I was the one who messed up my booking and not only went out of his way to help me, but was kind and non-judgemental about it as well. I really appreciated the courteous and understanding assistance, even when he was very busy with a lot of different things. Thank you!nnI also really recommend the spa, to anyone thinking of going this way!! I would recommend a stay here to others.

My spa experience was wonderful! The hotel however... the hallways are very dusty and dirty. We had come for a romantic evening and upon entry our room I immediately noticed a lack of either training or attention from the cleaning staff. We stayed in room 301 and there was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom as well as rust and mildew in the tub. For $317 this was extremely disappointing. Our coffee machine was also dirty and didn't work the clerk at the front desk couldn't have cared less, interesting stains on the furniture. I highly suggest spending the extra $40 and staying at the Hilton lac lemay. I remember how beautiful this hotel was when I was younger but now I have to say I've stayed at cleaner and nicer motels.
