So pleased with our experience! We’re from Ottawa and we we’re referred to this vet for a specialist to do my dogs knee surgery. Dr. Gatineau is the one that performed the surgery almost 2 weeks ago and I was so impressed with the stitching and that I was easily able to help my dog get around and he’s recovering so well so far. They took great care of my pup. The team is also amazing, great communication and I never felt once I had to re-explain myself to any of the staff, everyone is friendly and I can’t thank you all enough for this. Keep at it DMV team! :

Horrible , greedy, worse than car sellers. Extremely cold and rushed vet,completely terrible experience.Went with my 4 year old Hunter German Shepherd with swollen lymph nodes. Did at the test blood works payed 1400 $ for a 3 hour visit. Gave cortisone pills for a week and while waiting for results , the said i cant stop the pills suddenly but when i called for a pill renewal they said i need to come back for an evaluation to see if everything is ok, so gotta come wait hours and pay again a consultation fee for a 5 min examination to get pills again. Worse experience ever, i dont know how vets arent regulated. Should be closed down, they charge more than human health care. DO NOT GO THERE. This is the biggest proof that health care is just a pure money scam.

Our 5 year old German Shepherd was rushed to DMV when she had a giant abscess on her neck that exploded. The service we got was impeccable. Everyone was very very professional, kind and so reassuring. They had to put her to sleep to drain the abscess. We were there for 3-4h and left with a bag full of pills and equipment syringes, cones, pads…. The bill was also MUCH cheaper than we expected and our vet back home was very impressed by how the abscess healed :

The first time I visited the hospital was to put down my beloved dog Bell age 17, after having had cardiovascular problems for the last 4 months. I was dreading bringing her in and pushing back euthanasia for a long time. After having been to the Laval emergency hospital months prior and having had a poor experience, I was hesitant to try out DMV. My experience at DMV was beyond exceptional, they even took the time to cut little hearts on my dog’s bandages for her IV. They gave us a beautiful room, they were patient and gave us enough time to share our last moments with our dog. I can’t speak for others and their experiences, one thing for sure is 24/7 emergency vets are expensive for good reason, if you judge the problem with your animal can wait, wait to see your family vet the next day. Emergency hospitals are packed nightly, hours are long and staff is short just like any other facility. Results for medical exams are quick, they have specialists for specific problems and sophisticated machines that are not available at your regular vet clinic. The price is semi justifiable but can be better. My dog has been with me since I was 7, I am now 23 years old. I appreciate the hospital and all it did for me, it made an unpleasant experience less painful.

My car had a lot of blood in his urine so we took him to make sure he was blocked up, has crystals or an infection. Arrived at 8pm with 6 people ahead of me. They said if no other emergencies came in, it would be a 2-4 hour wait. $230 for the consultation. 15min after arrival a tech came to check on my cat to make sure he was stable or if he needed to be rushed. He was stable. I saw a vet at 10:45pm. The vet was very nice, knowledgeable and direct. No time for cute talk or pleasantries and I’m ok with that since it’s an emergency hospital. She checked his bladder, temperature, weight, neck, eyes and listened to my story while taking notes. She then recommended a blood test for $350 and a urine test for $150. The urine test was more essential until we can see his regular vet so we went with that. Results came in 45min later with a print out and microscope photos. She recommended antibiotics and a pain killer which we took both. She also recommended a urine culture sample and to do the blood test which re held off on and she said ok since we will go to his regular vet soon. All in all, great experience and courteous staff regardless of it being very late at night on a Friday night. Cost us some money but it was worth getting clarity on our cats health. There was free water and coffee in the waiting room. Recommended!

I took my dog as an emergency, since he was puking all night and wasn’t eating. Since we suspected a bowl obstruction we were referred to this place. After spending a total of 9hrs and running a bunch of tests, and spending 1500$, the vet has no diagnosis and wasn’t even sure how to read the the xray correctly. The staff is utterly rude, unprofessional, incompetent and clearly the vets do not like what they do. Treating an animal like an animal is nor compassionate, nor empathetic, pretty sure goes against your code of ethic and your oath! The 3.7/5 is a pretty generous grade.

I should have just thrown $300 at their front door while driving by - would have been better spent. Trust the bad reviews. Very frustrating experience. Ridiculous wait just to get my animal after payment and consult with a tech. Super disorganized. I was cleared to leave with my pet at 9:30pm and at 11:15 I was still waiting to leave. Nearly 2 hours AFTER seeing vet because “a technician wasn’t available to bring my pet out”. In total I spent 3 hours waiting, $300 and 5 minutes with the vet or possibly just a tech, she didn’t introduce herself as the vet. Complete joke and waste of time/money. Cat just as sick as when we arrived. Two young women receptionists are very condescending, zero understanding of customer service. Can’t believe I wasted my money here. Avoid, support your local vet instead.

My dog was hit in the face with porcupine needles and needed them removed urgently. I showed up around 9pm and my dog was immediately evaluated. Soon after, the vet spoke to me and said that she would work on him right away. He was sedated, had the needles removed and was ready to go home by 11 pm. I am very happy with the service that my pet received, and would highly recommend this facility. Thank you.

It was not my first experience at the DMV Lachine today, I have used them in the past for emergency situations. I have always had a good experience with the Vets there but today was exceptional. They are generally very capable and knowledgable. Of course, having to go to emergency is never pleasant and expensive but they know what they are doing, and just for that I feel at ease. I had a visit with the Cardiologist Dr Amelie Beaumier today because my dog has a heart murmur. She was so lovely, took the time to explain the situation and answered my many questions. What compelled me to write this review was her empathy with my dog, how comfortable she made him, giving him treats, getting down on the floor to greet him and making him feel at ease. He hates going to the vet, and its often because the animals are viewed as $$ only. You could tell she loves the animals on top of being extremely competent. I highly recommend her for any Cardiology needs.

I felt the need to write a review because of all the bad reviews I saw which made me hesitate to go to this place. I went in to the emergency at 8:00am with my cat who was in the early stages of heart failure. They saw me within 5 minutes and I had an appointment with the cardiologist the day of, when I was on a 6 month waitlist everywhere else. They were kind and answered all of my questions and tried to reassure me the best they could. I definitely recommend this place.
