We cancelled in July. We recieved a bill for August. Called, cleared it up and asked why the services never cancelled in July. They said they will cancel them. Everything was fine until we recieved an email in November, saying we need to pay or immediately face collections....what???? They never cancelled our services. We escalated the situation, and they determined the charges were valid. So again, they've said they cancelled. Who wants to bet we'll get a bill in February again?
Without warning, our electricity & gas bill skyrocketed to nearly double the price yet our consumption was lower than it has been the past several months before. We in the month of March and April are now paying over $600 a month for utilities. This company is a disaster, don’t let them swindle you into signing up with them unless you enjoy paying twice as much as what the competition has to offer.
1 star - The phone system does not work and the call centre is awful. I have wasted to much time trying to update an address. I would think twice of using Direct Energy if you require any customer service. Update to 3 stars - After 3 hours of trying to update the account I was trying to pay, someone at a call centre located out of Canada was able to help me. Taking 3 hours to pay an invoice seems ridiculous and please fix your phone system. The buttons and voice recognition was not working.
Without any changes to my energy usage my bill skyrocketed to roughly $1100 without explanation. Direct Energy completely refused to help me in any way even though I have been a loyal customer for many years. After changing to another provider, Direct Energy has added even more money to this bill. I am trying to be reasonable, but this company does not care. What they are doing is criminal. Charging a customer too much and then forcing them to pay anyway is theft. The customer service is awful. As I was typing this review while on hold with customer service, they hung up me. Now I have no idea what's going on. Is someone going to call me back? If anybody is looking for an energy service provider, just pick literally anyone else. I see Direct Energy leaves a response asking people to message them through Facebook. I do not have Facebook. If for any reason Direct Energy reads this and replies, they must offer a different contact method.... There will be another review base on their response and service.
I have been absolutely THRILLED with the services I have received from Direct Energy. I was a customer with a different company for 5 years, and Direct Energy has done more to provide discounts/services/promos in the past 6 months compared to the 5 years I spent as a customer for the other company. Customer service has also been top notch, and they’re very flexible when it comes to making payments. Looking forward to continuing my services with Direct Energy for a very long time!
My husband And I move out of the old place after 3 years and cancel this company. Until this year, they randomly charge us 1600$ and said we still live there. We were like please contact the landlord and confirm who lives there cause we aren’t For 3 years. Sorry to say, but if I have to call the cop on you guys for this and pay for a lawyer, I will do it to the end. You guys don’t call the landlord and confirm and charge ridiculous. We have every paper said we aren’t Live there for 3 years.
I've been with them for over 25 years, but had to switch due to their price gouging. The basics are; was unfixed until a couple years back I locked in to a fixed, that was ok, but as contract ended I just wanted to go back to unfixed with the cheaper prices again; Gas $3GJ and lower, Power around 8-10cents kWh. My last 2 bills they charged $9.5GJ Gas and 27-36cents kWh power. I called several times with no explanation, and they even offered me a reasonable rate, but then wouldn't honor that. Check online first, because there are companies offering under $5 gas & 9cents power, I did. The ironic thing is those other cheaper companies are probably getting there gas from them.
Absolutely horrible service, they over charge you whether you switch from regulated services to direct energy and send you two bills in the same month. They could care less your issue they know they are getting their money, don’t sign up with them!!
I am a latest addition to another negative review . I was with encor and I am staying in apartment and i have to pay my heat bills . my bills with encor were never more than 95 . When I switched with direct energy - i got my bill of 192 .Please do not ever switch this provider . I hope so this helps every one
The worst customer experience ever. My services were not transfered to my new address until 2 months later, eventhough I called giving enough notice at least 2 weeks before my move. Their excuse is that the call got disconnected and the rep never called me back so I had the impression everything was taken care off. They are billing my landlord instead of me, this is affecting my tenantlandlord relationship big time!!! I have called many many many times about this, being told it's going to be fixed.... nothing. So disappointed
