Reviews
My friend and I went to Dakgogi blind without checking out reviews first. We wish we had. Service was fine, as were the portion sizes for the price, but other than that, we did not like our experience. Note that this is a place where you order for the table, not individually. We ordered a half order of yangnyeon boneless chicken and although the chicken was decent, the sauce wasn't. It felt like it was lacking something. Maybe if we had added some heat it would have been better, but the sweet version on its own had us begrudgingly eating it. Not terrible, but not good either. We also ordered a sausage plate from the side menu. It was basically its own meal and came with a side of fries itself, begging the question if this really should be considered a side. We expected Korean sausage since it's a Korean place, but it was just a standard Italian sausage. I mean, it tastes fine for an Italian sausage, but it was slightly overdone, and not what we expected. This is also definitely not something to order if you're not in a party of 3+. That said, the fries were really good. Honestly, some of this is our fault for not researching first, but if 2/2 of randomly selected menu items are disappointing, I'm not optimistic about their other items.
A very nice place for Korean fried chicken. Had a lot of options, the portions were also very big as well. Service was fast and food came out in a short time. Would come again.
Amazing food , amazing customer service , the server was very friendly!! The wait wasn’t too long! Tried kimchi for the first time and kinda liked it and the chicken was yum!! definitely gonna come back!
We came very late and service was very fast. Last call for alcohol is 2am. Ordered sweet potato fries and soy garlic boneless chicken. Food was very good and perfect for a late night snack. New favourite spot for late night drinking.
I dined in for dinner and ordered prinkle chicken wings, along with spicy chicken feet. I came on a Tuesday so the wings were half price and came with a side of fries. The prinkle chicken tasted absolutely amazing; Dakgogi is now my favorite place for chicken wings because of the prinkle flavour. The fries were surprisingly really good as well, and this is coming from someone who doesn't usually like fries other than McDonald's. The chicken feet were too spicy for me but still I like that Dakgogi serves it because not many restaurants in Toronto sell Korean chicken feet. The service was quick and there were several window booth seats to choose from, which was nice. I also like that this Dakgogi location is conveniently near a subway station downtown.
Dakgogi is a Korean Fried Chicken KFC hehe restaurant in downtown Toronto. If you've never had the better KFC before, this place is a good start. We ordered the pork kimchi fries ~$18 and the half-and-half yangnyeom, which is a sweet and spicy flavor + soy garlic boneless chicken ~$34. In total, the bill came to around $70 including tax and tip, and can easily feed 3 people. The pulled pork and kimchi were decent, but were a bit underwhelming. However, the chicken was great. Lots of great flavoring in their sauces and seasoning, although I'd HIGHLY recommend not getting the spiciest option for the yangnyeom chicken. The chicken could be more juicy, but it's very good nonetheless. Finally, the service could definitely be improved as mentioned in the other reviews. Despite the friendly staff, they do not check up on tables very often leading to long wait times. All in all, it's a place worth checking out for the better KFC.
Chicken feet are tasty but very peppery and spicy. Adding udon is the best ever!!! Package is the same as the one in Korean, love it!Recommended dishesYangnyeom Chicken
This place is a bomb! I was not sure what to expect before I went in because there were some negative reviews. However, I had a good experience. The chicken was perfect, it was just like the good ol' Korean fried chicken I've been craving for a long time. We had the bone in, half and half chicken yangnyeom and soy garlic + Kimchi fries. If you're not good with spicy, I recommend mild or sweet because my non Korean friend found medium pretty spicy and I could tell why although I have high tolerance of spicy food. One thing that lost a star is that the Kimchi fries was served a little bit cold, especially the fried egg was cold like it came out of the fridge before it was run to our table, so that was less appetizing and disappointing. The server was nice and friendly, but he could've been more attentive by offering more napkins when requestedit gets messy! and it would've been great if they provide an empty side plate or small bowl for us to throw out the bones. Regardless, I am already spreading the word and gonna bring my colleagues and friends to celebrate the end of the year soon. oh also, it's a well decorated place and pretty Instagrammable with all those fun neon signs, I mean that if you're into it.
The fried chicken is really good and taste good. I love the flavored fries and I crave for it. Staff is friendly and price is affordable. Nice ambiance as well.
Some solid Korean fried chicken for a decent price The bboorinkle and yangnyeom fried chicken are yummy and the pork fries were also very blessed. However, be warned that the yangnyeom medium spicy can be quite strong
