Rather than spending our money abroad or in other provinces, we decided to spend our money "locally" - Calgary and surrounding areas this summer, as our tiny commitment to contribute to local eateries. We have also made sure to complete mostly favorable reviews to help boost local businesses. We decided to stop at this DQ we reside in Calgary. One way for a business to show that it cares for its customers is to ensure cleanliness, especially during these trying times. We experienced a hard time finding a clean table. Out of 16 or 17 tables, only 3 were clean! There was debris on the ground and the bathroom was dirty. Not sure when the bathroom door hand panel has been wiped down or the sink faucet, toilet wall-attached bar handle, and the bathroom mirror. There were 5 employees minimum, and we understand that they are young, however the state of this location was unacceptable, especially for paying eat-in customers.
So, I have been trying to be nice and not give my review of DQ, but today, it was just pathetic. Doesn't matter if I go in there and order, order online for pick-up, or order from Skip the Dishes, DQ ALWAYS FORGETS SOMETHING OR MESSES UP MY ORDER. At least when I go there I can go back in, but on Skip I have had to drive back over there after I have gotten my order delivered and get them to fix their mistakes at least 10-12 times in the last 3 years. In the last 3 years, while being in the store and ordering, I checked the bags and, surprise, suprise about 6 times I have had to get them to fix thing or give me things that they have forgotten. Now, because they are an Okotoks business and I grew up here, I was trying to let them get their act together, but it got worse, actually. When you pay $17+ per meal, you would think that the quality would be good, but today, they made me mad. The old owners would always fill the gravy to the top, I always had cold drinks, and I always had a good amount of ice but not too much. I will post a picture of the pitiful excuse for 1/4 filled expensive gravies and the piss warm, flat, no ice Dr. Pepper they sent me today. Honestly, DQ Okotoks needs to get their act together. Also, every time I go in there, they have about 3 people working, and it is always young kids. Maybe they do that on purpose, so we don't get mad at the service we get. Anyways, how about hiring more people to work there? Then, probably pay them better because no one truly does want to work there, and then train them better because they are all kids and the owners obviously don't care if they know how to do their job. I actually feel bad for all those kids working there because they probably get yelled at a lot by customers.
After coming into this DQ around 8:00pm on a Saturday night I have been left disappointed. I had to wait for 55 minutes just for 2 blizzards. As I sat and waited I watched 6 customers come in and leave due to the lack of attention that they were greeted with. They stood waiting for 5+ minutes and had not even been told “one moment” or anything. There was a total or 3 orders that ordered 15+ minutes after me that got there food/ice cream before me. Also after looking at the station where the ice cream is prepped it was a disaster, with toppings spread everywhere! There was only 3 teenagers running everything without any indication that there was a manager. They should either step up there training or increase there man power. But I’m glad that I got a coupon for a free small sundae with purchase of a meal… what a joke.
Terrible. Waiting in line for ten minutes to order two chicken strip meals and two burger meals. After waiting for 20 minutes where half of the time the order was under the ‘heating light’ we finally got half our order. $35+ spent and we didn’t get two of the fries, any of the drinks and the chicken looked pathetic. There seemed to be a new guy working there that what we assumed was the manager didn’t help him at all when he was struggling with the ice cream machine. Whole thing seemed poorly managed and under staffed especially during a rush.
Worst Dairy Queen ever not clean take 40 minutes to get a order done and is done terribly won’t come here ever again not clean this is gross and not clean and not using clean hands to touch our food
Absolutely the worst Dairy Queen I have ever been to. The absolute lack of care to the choco brownie extreme blizzard I had ordered. Did DQ change the recipe or am I missing something, the amount of fudge in it, I would think it was half chocolate fudge half ice cream. Also they put extra ice cream in it, well by the time id gotten home which is just on the other side of town, it was melted fairly well and of course open the lid and yes a sticky fudge mess. Never in my 28 years on this planet have a had such a terrible experience at DQ. Sure it was busy but in my books it doesn’t make it right to rush customers orders. Avoid this Dairy Queen your better off to spend the money in gas and goto high river!
I visited the store yesterday almost 6 to grab my last minute cake order. The staff are so friendly and the place is really clean. Love this place more than any Dairy Queen!!!!!
Got two blizzards and the texture was like soupy ice cream with BARELY any toppings. We haven't had a good experience at this Dairy Queen in over two years
Twice in one week we went just after 9pm to pick up food from the OKOTOKS location being that the door says it’s open until 10pm and online it says 10pm. Pulled into the drive thru to be told “kitchen is closed” and then silence. So we drove away. The second time same thing “kitchen closed!” So we went to try the door instead and figured we could maybe order just ice cream instead. Nope, door was locked. Bunch of teenagers “working” inside standing around talking and laughing and they decided to close up shop 45 mins before the closing time. We went elsewhere for food both times. Wonder how many other people were turned away by this group of teenage employees and how many sales were missed because of locked doors.
Stopped in yesterday for supper while running errands with the kids. We were standing at the cash waiting for someone to take our order or at least acknowledge we were there and neither happened. A group of girls standing at the ice cream machines and not a single one said a word too busy chatting amongst themselves. No thanks. We left and took our business elsewhere.
